The familiar sight of red, white and blue fireworks booths will soon return to street corners and shopping centers throughout Folsom as 15 local nonprofit organizations prepare to begin sales for the Independence Day holiday.
Approved safe and sane fireworks sales are scheduled to begin June 28 and continue through July 4 at locations across the city. Each booth is operated by a local nonprofit organization, with proceeds supporting youth sports programs, community service organizations, schools, veterans groups, public safety initiatives and other charitable causes throughout the community.
For many of the participating groups, the annual fireworks sales fundraiser represents one of their largest revenue-generating opportunities of the year, helping fund everything from youth athletic programs and scholarships to community outreach efforts and service projects.
This year’s fireworks booth operators were selected through the City of Folsom’s annual lottery process.
Proceeds from sales help support the participating organizations and their programs throughout the year, benefiting everything from youth athletics and community service projects to public safety initiatives, educational programs and veteran support services.

City officials remind residents that only state-approved “safe and sane” fireworks purchased from licensed Folsom booths are legal within city limits and may only be discharged during approved hours.
Illegal Fireworks Carry Serious Risks
Before lighting a fuse, know the risks. Illegal fireworks are prohibited in Folsom and can result in fines of up to $5,000 per violation. They also pose a serious threat to neighborhoods, open space and public safety, especially during the dry summer months.
The City of Folsom has a zero-tolerance policy for illegal fireworks. Folsom Police and Fire personnel dedicated to fireworks enforcement will actively patrol neighborhoods throughout the holiday and use drones to help identify violations, protect neighborhoods and reduce fire danger.
Violations are subject to fines of up to $5,000. Each violation may be cited separately. Property owners who use illegal fireworks, or allow others to use illegal fireworks on their property, may be fined $1,000 under the City’s social host ordinance.
Calls for service increase significantly on the Fourth of July. Residents are asked to reserve 9-1-1 for true emergencies, such as fires, injuries or immediate threats to people or property.

As Independence Day approaches, city officials encourage residents to celebrate responsibly, purchase only legal safe and sane fireworks, support local nonprofit organizations and help keep Folsom neighborhoods safe throughout the holiday.
