Shelley Kauffman joins longtime Folsom attorneys Joe and Sheri Hoffman in leadership role at family-founded practice
A longtime Folsom law firm rooted in family tradition is entering a new chapter as Hoffman & Hoffman has named attorney Shelley Kauffman as partner, marking the first partnership in the firm’s 31-year history.
The firm, founded in 1995 by husband-and-wife attorneys Joe and Sheri Hoffman, has spent more than three decades serving families throughout Folsom and El Dorado County. Built on a philosophy centered around personal relationships and trusted counsel, the practice has long reflected the Hoffmans’ commitment to multigenerational service.
That family-centered approach now extends even further with the addition of Kauffman to the firm’s leadership. Kauffman, the Hoffmans’ niece, grew up around the office and has built her legal career within the firm, making the announcement both a professional milestone and a deeply personal one for the family.
“This firm has always been rooted in family — both our own and the families we serve,” said Joe Hoffman. “Watching our niece grow up in this office, become an exceptional attorney, and now step into partnership is incredibly meaningful to us. She understands our values, our approach, and the responsibility we feel toward every client.”
Having spent much of her life around the firm’s work, Kauffman developed an early appreciation for its client-centered philosophy. She later built extensive experience in estate planning, trust and estate administration, and litigation.
In her new role as partner, Kauffman will help lead the continued expansion of the firm’s estate planning and administration services while maintaining a strong presence in complex and contested matters.
Her appointment also represents an important generational milestone for the firm, strengthening its ability to continue serving families across Northern California while ensuring long-term continuity in leadership.
“I am deeply honored to join my aunt and uncle, Joe and Sheri Hoffman, as partner,” said Kauffman. “I’m proud to carry forward the integrity, care, and dedication that have guided the firm for 31 years.”
Joe and Sheri Hoffman say the transition reflects a natural next step for the practice, one that reinforces the firm’s foundation while positioning it for the future.
By welcoming Kauffman into partnership, the firm continues the same family-driven approach that has defined Hoffman & Hoffman since its founding — a commitment to guiding clients through some of life’s most important legal decisions with care, trust and experience.
