More than 200 fourth- and fifth-grade students at Alder Creek Elementary School traded their regular classroom routine for time on the basketball court Thursday, Sept. 24, as Sacramento Kings youth basketball coaches brought the Courtside Class experience to campus.

The hourlong, in-person clinic gave students an opportunity to get active, learn new basketball skills and experience some of the excitement of Kings basketball without leaving their school.

Throughout the session, students rotated through a variety of basketball drills and activities led by Kings youth coaches. The exercises were designed to keep students moving while developing fundamental skills, building confidence and encouraging teamwork.

Students of all experience levels were invited to participate, giving everyone a chance to pick up a basketball, learn something new and enjoy time on the court alongside their classmates.

For Alder Creek students, the visit went beyond learning basketball skills. The high-energy activities encouraged students to stay active, work together and step outside their usual routines while bringing a taste of the Sacramento Kings experience directly to their school campus.

The Courtside Class visit also gave more than 200 students a shared experience they could take back to the classroom — and plenty of memories from their time on the court.

“Thank you to Sacramento Kings for bringing the Courtside Class experience to Alder Creek Elementary and giving our students an opportunity to get active, learn new skills and create memories on the court,” the school shared following the event.
