Veteran broadcaster, podcaster and stand-up comedianArnie Stateswill bring his trademark mix of unfiltered humor, storytelling and crowd interaction to The Boardwalk Saturday night as Memorial Day weekend entertainment continues in Orangevale.
Saturday night’s “An Evening with Arnie States Live!” promises a fast-moving mix of comedy, music and spontaneous audience interaction built around one of Northern California radio’s most recognizable personalities.
Best known as the longtime co-host of the nationally syndicated “Rob, Arnie and Dawn Show,” States spent more than two decades helping build the highly rated radio program into a major presence throughout Sacramento, Reno and other regional markets. Teaming with broadcasting partners Rob Williams and Dawn Rossi in the early 1990s, the trio became a staple of morning radio known for sharp humor, unpredictable banter and loyal listeners across Northern California and Nevada.
Throughout the show’s long run, States became known as the outspoken and relatable counterbalance to his co-hosts, often driving the show’s comedic energy through his brash, uncensored style and quick wit. His distinctive voice and unpredictable personality helped make him a fan favorite throughout his roughly 24 years on the air before his departure from the program in 2016.
States later returned to broadcasting following his recovery and a brief stint on ESPN Radio in Reno before successfully launching “The Arnie States Show,” his own independent weekday live podcast that continues to showcase the same raw humor, commentary and listener interaction longtime fans have followed for years.
In addition to podcasting and radio, States has built a second career as a stand-up comedian, releasing his debut comedy album “Too Fat to Stand-Up” while regularly touring the California comedy circuit. His live appearances at venues such as The Boardwalk have developed a strong following, often drawing loyal audiences eager for his uncensored humor and off-the-cuff performance style.
Saturday’s live performance is expected to feature the same blend of comedy, improvisation and real-time crowd interaction that has helped build his devoted fanbase both on-air and online. The show mixes personal stories, observations, current events commentary and spontaneous audience participation into a format designed to keep the crowd guessing throughout the night.
Known for energetic delivery and a willingness to veer off-script at any moment, States continues to expand his live entertainment presence while maintaining a strong following throughout the region.
The Saturday show begins at 8:30 p.m. at The Boardwalk, located at 9426 Greenback Lane in Orangevale.
The holiday weekend then shifts into a more laid-back atmosphere Sunday afternoon asCoLoSo – Feel Good Island Soundbrings reggae-rock rhythms and island-inspired music to the venue beginning at 3 p.m.
Short for Collection of Lone Souljahs, CoLoSo is a Vancouver, Washington-based reggae-rock band founded by Maui native Kevin Coloso. Built around Coloso’s signature ukulele-driven style, the group blends island reggae, roots music and pop influences into an upbeat live performance known for feel-good energy and beach-party vibes.
Since forming in 2013, the band has toured extensively throughout the West Coast and Southwest while building a growing following among reggae and island music fans. The group regularly performs as both an intimate acoustic-style act and a larger touring ensemble featuring horns, guitars, bass, drums and layered harmonies.
CoLoSo has shared stages with major names in reggae and island music including Collie Buddz, Anuhea, Eli-Mac, The Original Wailers, Ekolu, Fiji and Fortunate Youth. The band has also released multiple albums and singles, including “Time to Grow” and “Colors of the Rainbow.”
Sunday’s performance offers a tropical contrast to Saturday night’s comedy-driven entertainment while giving audiences a relaxed soundtrack to close out the Memorial Day weekend.
