Assemblyman Josh Hoover, of Folsom, has been appointed to serve as the California Assembly Republican Minority Floor Leader, joining the Assembly Republican leadership team under newly selected Assembly Republican Leader Alexandra M. Macedo.
The appointment was announced Monday by Hoover’s office.
As Minority Floor Leader, Hoover will assist the Republican leader by organizing opposition to legislation and helping advance the caucus’s policy priorities during the legislative session.
“I am excited to get to work in this new position fighting for California families and making our state more affordable,” Hoover said in a statement. “Our leadership team is fully committed to pushing back against the status quo in Sacramento, bringing down the cost of living, and making government work for everyone.”
Macedo said Hoover’s experience and leadership made him a strong choice for the role.
“Minority Floor Leader Hoover is trusted and respected by his colleagues. He works tirelessly to protect California families and defend household budgets,” Macedo said. “From authoring key legislation to rein in skyrocketing utility bills to demanding government transparency, he is steadfast in his mission to ease the cost of living.”
Hoover was elected to represent California’s 7th Assembly District, which includes the cities of Folsom, Citrus Heights and Rancho Cordova, along with the unincorporated communities of Carmichael, Fair Oaks, Foothill Farms, Gold River, Mather, McClellan Park, North Highlands, Orangevale and Rosemont.
The Minority Floor Leader is part of the Assembly Republican leadership team and plays a key role in coordinating floor strategy, managing debate on legislation and assisting the caucus in advancing its legislative agenda.
