Orangevale singer-songwriter Nick Bossio returns to Folsom’s waterfront this weekend with an afternoon of original music and country favorites overlooking Lake Natoma.
Local country artist Beard Picker returns to Folsom’s waterfront this weekend, bringing his authentic blend of original music and country favorites to Crawdads on the Lake for a free Sunday afternoon performance overlooking Lake Natoma.
Fronted by Orangevale singer-songwriter Nick Bossio, Beard Picker will perform Sunday, July 19, from 2 p.m. to 5 p.m. at Crawdads on the Lake, located at 9900 Greenback Lane. Admission is free, with seating available on a first-come, first-served basis.
Known for his honest songwriting and blue-collar roots, Bossio has steadily built a following throughout the Sacramento region by creating music that reflects everyday life rather than polished commercial country. His songs draw inspiration from long days on construction sites, family life, financial challenges and the determination to keep moving forward—stories that resonate with audiences who appreciate authenticity over image.
That connection has helped Beard Picker become a familiar name on stages throughout Northern California, where fans have embraced both the sincerity of the songwriting and the relaxed, welcoming atmosphere of the live performances.
Sunday’s show will feature Bossio joined by fellow musicians, creating an easygoing afternoon that combines Beard Picker originals with country favorites and Americana influences. Audiences can expect acoustic-driven performances with a back-porch feel, blending heartfelt originals alongside songs inspired by artists such as Zach Bryan, Tyler Childers and Willie Nelson.
Bossio’s growing catalog continues to reflect the same working-class perspective that defines his live performances. Releases including Safety Meeting Sessions, recorded in a raw, live-band setting, and Laid Off, a self-produced project centered on the realities of working life, have helped establish Beard Picker as an independent artist committed to telling genuine stories through music.
Rather than following a traditional music industry path, Bossio has remained rooted in the Sacramento area, balancing a full-time construction career while writing, recording and performing songs that reflect the experiences of many of the people who come to hear him play.
That authenticity has become Beard Picker’s calling card, allowing his music to connect with audiences beyond traditional country fans. Whether performing original material or reimagining familiar classics, the focus remains on creating an intimate performance where storytelling and musicianship take center stage.
The lakeside setting at Crawdads on the Lake provides an ideal backdrop for the afternoon performance, offering waterfront dining, drinks and panoramic views of Lake Natoma while guests enjoy live music. The venue’s Sunday entertainment series has become a popular summertime tradition, showcasing regional talent in one of Folsom’s most scenic outdoor settings.
