Academy Award-winning actor and musician brings The Boxmasters to Orangevale this Saturday for one of the venue’s biggest shows of the year
ORANGEVALE – Millions of television viewers know him today as Tommy Norris, the hard-living oil company executive at the center of Paramount’s hit series Landman. This Saturday, however, Billy Bob Thornton will be trading the oil fields of West Texas for the stage at The Boardwalk as he and his band, The Boxmasters, bring their 2026 Morro Rock Tour to Orangevale.
The June 20 concert is shaping up to be one of the most notable bookings of the year for the legendary Sacramento-area music venue, giving local fans the opportunity to see an Academy Award-winning actor and accomplished touring musician in one of Northern California’s most intimate concert settings.
For many artists with Thornton’s level of name recognition, performances typically take place in theaters, casinos or large concert halls. Saturday’s appearance at The Boardwalk offers a far different experience. Fans will be just feet from the stage, creating the type of close-up concert atmosphere that has made the venue a favorite among live music enthusiasts for decades.
A limited number of reserved seating tickets remained available this week as anticipation continued to build for the show.
While Thornton’s acting career has earned worldwide recognition through projects such as Sling Blade, Friday Night Lights, Bad Santa, Goliath and now Landman, music has long been one of his greatest passions.
That passion led to the formation of The Boxmasters, a band that has steadily built a loyal following across the country through extensive touring and a distinctive sound that blends elements of rock, Americana, country and British Invasion influences.
Founded by Thornton and longtime collaborator J.D. Andrew, The Boxmasters have released an impressive catalog of albums while developing a reputation as a hardworking touring act that places songwriting and musicianship at the forefront of every performance.
