Rapidly growing vintage and artisan marketplace plans nearly 200 vendor booths in massive new Folsom location
A rapidly growing locally owned marketplace known throughout the Sacramento region for vintage finds, handmade goods and artisan vendors is preparing to open its largest location yet at the Folsom Premium Outlets, bringing a major new retail concept to one of the city’s most visible shopping destinations.
Bliss Marketplace, which operates collaborative vendor marketplaces in Rancho Cordova, Roseville and Midtown Sacramento, is expanding into a 22,000-square-foot storefront at the outlet center that could officially open to shoppers by the end of July.
The new Folsom location will not only become the company’s fourth overall storefront, but also by far its largest. The space is more than double the size of Bliss Marketplace’s current largest operation in Rancho Cordova, which spans approximately 10,000 square feet.
The expansion is expected to dramatically increase the company’s footprint in the region while creating what owners say will become a centerpiece destination for vintage shopping, handmade products and small-business vendors throughout the Sacramento area.
The new marketplace will feature approximately 200 vendor booths selling a wide range of merchandise that includes retro furniture, collectibles, artisan jewelry, handmade décor, clothing, antiques, crafts and specialty gifts. The vendor-driven concept allows independent sellers and artisans to rent individual booth spaces while operating under the larger Bliss Marketplace umbrella.
The new location will occupy a prominent space inside the Folsom Premium Outlets that has previously housed several retailers over the years, including Saks Off 5th and Falling Prices. A furniture retailer currently appears to operate within the building.
According to company information, Bliss Marketplace is expected to officially take possession of the property at the end of June before beginning interior preparation work ahead of the planned summer opening.
Unlike many large retail buildouts, owners say the building already requires relatively limited modifications. Planned renovations include the removal of a storage room wall and most of the existing fitting rooms as the company transforms the interior into a redesigned shopping environment with a highly stylized and boutique-inspired atmosphere.
Even before the Folsom location officially opens, vendor demand is already proving strong. The company reports the marketplace is already approximately half full with many existing vendors from other Bliss locations planning to either expand their operations into Folsom or relocate there entirely.
The opening is expected to create a major operational shift across the company’s existing stores while establishing Folsom as the company’s flagship location moving forward.
Bliss Marketplace was founded in 2016 by Sydnei Kelly and co-founder Stacy after the pair sought to create a different type of retail environment for local makers, collectors and vintage sellers.
According to company background information, the concept grew out of personal challenges both founders were facing at the time. Stacy was struggling physically with the demanding schedule of vendor fairs and pop-up markets, while Kelly — then a former teacher and new mother — was facing the reality that much of her paycheck would be consumed by child care costs.
Rather than pursuing traditional retail storefronts independently, the two created a shared marketplace concept designed to help local entrepreneurs grow their businesses without assuming the overwhelming financial burden of operating an entire brick-and-mortar store alone.
What began as a single marketplace in Rancho Cordova has steadily expanded into a growing regional brand with additional locations in Midtown Sacramento and Roseville. The Roseville location, known as Bliss Market, opened in 2023 as the company’s latest expansion prior to the Folsom announcement.
Over the years, Bliss Marketplace has built a strong following among vintage enthusiasts, collectors and shoppers seeking one-of-a-kind items that differ from traditional chain retail offerings. The stores regularly feature rotating merchandise curated by independent vendors, with inventory ranging from mid-century furniture and antique décor to handcrafted jewelry, artisan gifts and locally made products.
The business has also developed a reputation for supporting small business owners beyond simple booth rentals. Company materials state that Bliss provides vendor training, booth staging guidance, marketing resources and collaborative community support aimed at helping artisans and entrepreneurs grow sustainable businesses.
In addition to retail sales, the company frequently hosts themed shopping events, seasonal markets, workshops and community gatherings centered around handmade goods, vintage culture and creative entrepreneurship.
The addition of Bliss Marketplace also represents another significant retail move for the Folsom Premium Outlets as the center continues working to fill large-format spaces and attract new destination-style tenants to the property.
Once completed, the Folsom store is expected to become one of the largest vendor-style marketplaces in the Sacramento region and a substantial new attraction for shoppers visiting the outlet center.
