A woman whose body was discovered Monday morning in a decorative fountain at Folsom’s Broadstone Marketplace shopping center was identified by the Sacramento County Coroner’s Office as 44-year-old Dana Marie Stark of Fair Oaks.

Stark’s body was reported shortly after 6 a.m. on July 13, prompting a response from Folsom Police officers and detectives to the shopping center in the 2700 block of East Bidwell Street. Investigators secured the area around the fountain while they processed the scene, drawing the attention of shoppers and commuters passing through one of the city’s busiest commercial districts.

The Sacramento County Coroner’s Office released Stark’s identity after notifying her family. At the time of the identification, the coroner said the official cause of death had not yet been determined and remains pending examination.

Following its investigation, the Folsom Police Department said the circumstances surrounding Stark’s death have been classified as accidental. Detectives determined there was no evidence of foul play, and police have ruled out any criminal activity in connection with the case.

Police initially advised the public there was no threat to the community while detectives investigated the discovery.

Authorities have not released additional details explaining how Stark came to be in the fountain or the circumstances that led to her death. The investigation has concluded with the incident being classified as an accidental death, while the Sacramento County Coroner’s Office continues its examination to determine the official medical cause of death.
