After months of planning, fundraising and a community-led construction effort, Castle Park is set to officially reopen next week, with residents invited to celebrate the return of one of the city’s most cherished destinations.
Folsom Parks and Recreation will host a grand reopening ceremony on Tuesday, June 30 at 10 a.m. at Castle Park, located at 201 Prewett Drive. The event will mark the completion of the park’s renovation and recognize the volunteers, donors and community partners who helped bring the project to life.
The reopening follows an intensive community build earlier this year, where hundreds of volunteers worked side by side — even through challenging weather conditions — to construct the new playground and carry forward a long-standing Folsom tradition.
Originally built through a volunteer effort more than 30 years ago, Castle Park became a defining part of the community, serving as a gathering place for families and a source of lasting memories for generations of local residents.
The newly rebuilt park was designed to honor that legacy while introducing updated features aimed at improving safety, accessibility and long-term durability. The signature castle theme remains at the heart of the design, preserving the character that made the original playground so recognizable while enhancing opportunities for play and exploration.
City officials say the project reflects a continued commitment to maintaining quality community spaces while also highlighting the impact of local involvement.
The June 30 ceremony will provide an opportunity for the public to see the completed project firsthand while acknowledging the collective effort that made it possible.
Organizers say the event will celebrate not only the reopening of the park, but also the spirit of collaboration that defined the project from its earliest stages through its final construction.
