Free concert series kicks off at Lions Park with family-friendly evening of live music, food trucks and outdoor fun
Summer evenings on the green in Folsom are about to get a little louder as the City of Folsom launches its popular Summer of Music concert series this Friday, June 12, with a performance by California country-rock band In Kahootz at Lions Park.
The free community concert series returns to the park’s expansive green space at 403 Stafford Street, bringing live music, food trucks and a family-friendly atmosphere to the heart of the city. Concerts run from 7 to 9 p.m. and offer residents and visitors an opportunity to enjoy live entertainment under the evening sky.
Opening the four-show series is In Kahootz, a high-energy country and rock band from Porterville in California’s Central Valley. Since forming in 2021, the group has quickly built a reputation for delivering crowd-pleasing performances that blend country, classic rock and a wide range of musical influences.
Led by Aaron Rodriguez on acoustic guitar and vocals and Matt Brown on lead guitar and vocals, the band is backed by a seasoned rhythm section and prides itself on versatility. While country and rock remain at the core of its sound, In Kahootz also incorporates blues, reggae, R&B and Spanish-language music into its performances, creating a show designed to appeal to a wide range of audiences.
The band has performed throughout California at notable venues including the iconic Buck Owens Crystal Palace in Bakersfield, BarrelHouse Brewing locations across the state, Harry’s Night Club in Pismo Beach and Wilson Creek Winery in Temecula. In Kahootz has also shared the stage with nationally known country artists including Randy Houser, Hailey Whitters, Tyler Rich, Bryce Leatherwood, Uncle Kracker, Austin Williams and Cece Frey.
Beyond California, the group has appeared at the historic Sand Dollar Lounge in Las Vegas and AJ’s Goodtime Bar in Nashville, where they participated in an artist showcase. In addition to performing popular covers, the band writes and records original music that has been featured on 106.7 KJUG Country and is available on major streaming platforms.
Friday’s concert marks the first of four performances scheduled as part of this year’s Summer of Music lineup. The series continues June 26 with dance favorites from Power Play Band, followed by Top 40 hits from Night Owls on July 10. The series concludes July 24 with rock band Inverness95.
Known for its relaxed atmosphere and open lawn setting, the Summer of Music series has become a favorite seasonal tradition for local families and groups of friends. Attendees are encouraged to bring lawn chairs or blankets and enjoy an evening of live entertainment while children take advantage of the park’s open spaces. Food trucks will also be on site throughout the evening.
