SACRAMENTO — The Sacramento County Coroner’s Office is asking for the public’s help in identifying an unidentified man who died earlier this year after suffering a cardiac arrest at a Sacramento homeless shelter.
According to the Sacramento County Coroner’s Office, the unidentified man, identified as Coroner Case 26-00572, experienced a witnessed cardiac arrest on Feb. 4, 2026, at a homeless shelter on Bannon Street in Sacramento. He was transported to the hospital, where he was pronounced dead shortly thereafter.
The fingerprints of the decedent did not lead to a positive identification.
Shelter personnel indicated that he was using the name Walter Hernandez Quinonez, with a date of birth of Aug. 26, 1968.
The unidentified man appears to be of Hispanic ethnicity and is estimated to be between 50 and 60 years old. He had shoulder-length black hair with gray, weighed 151 pounds, and stood 5 feet 8 inches tall. He had brown eyes, natural and well-preserved teeth, and no tattoos or notable marks or scars on his body.
The Sacramento County Coroner’s Office said the sketch of the unidentified man is a combination of a human-generated sketch and real photos of the decedent post-mortem collected by AI to create the most accurate version of the decedent.
