After the fireworks fade and the Folsom Pro Rodeo wraps up each night, the celebration continues in Historic Folsom as Powerhouse Pub rolls out a Fourth of July weekend lineup featuring classic rock, rising country star Serena Karise, a late-night Independence Day dance party and a legendary East Bay soul band that helped shape Northern California music history.
The three-day lineup offers something for nearly every music fan, beginning with Beatles-inspired classic rock on Friday evening before shifting to country, late-night dance music and one of the Bay Area’s most influential funk and soul bands on Sunday.
Friday, July 3 begins with the TGIF Early Show featuring Sacramento favorites Green Grass Snakes at 6 p.m. Known throughout the region for energetic performances and exceptional vocal harmonies, the band has become a favorite at festivals, breweries and community events while celebrating the timeless music of classic rock’s golden era.
Drawing from the 1960s through the 1980s, Green Grass Snakes perform a wide-ranging catalog of classic rock favorites, but perhaps are best known for their meticulous recreations of The Beatles’ legendary albums Abbey Road, Rubber Souland Help! Their attention to detail and faithful harmonies have earned them a loyal following among Beatles fans while showcasing the songwriting that helped define modern rock music.
Whether delivering British Invasion classics or American rock favorites, the band’s polished musicianship and crowd-friendly style provide an ideal soundtrack to kick off the holiday weekend in Historic Folsom.
Friday night then shifts from classic rock to contemporary country as Northern California recording artist Serena Karise takes the Powerhouse stage at 10 p.m.
One of the region’s fastest-rising country performers, Karise has steadily built a growing fan base throughout the West Coast while sharing stages with nationally recognized artists including Gabby Barrett, Sara Evans and Deana Carter.
Influenced by the country sound of the 1990s while embracing a modern edge, Karise’s music balances heartfelt storytelling with upbeat, crowd-driven performances. Saturday night keeps the Independence Day celebration going as DJ TLDSTR takes over Powerhouse beginning at 10 p.m. for the venue’s official after-party following the Folsom Pro Rodeo and Fourth of July festivities.
Featuring today’s biggest dance hits alongside crowd favorites from multiple decades, DJ TLDSTR transforms Powerhouse into a late-night celebration where rodeo fans, visitors and local residents can continue the holiday weekend long after the fireworks have ended.
With Powerhouse’s giant LED dance floor, multiple bars and energetic nightlife atmosphere, Saturday night is expected to be one of the busiest parties of the holiday weekend in Historic Folsom.
The weekend concludes Sunday, July 5 with one of the most recognizable names ever to grace the Powerhouse of Blues stage as Lydia Pense & Cold Blood perform beginning at 3 p.m.
Few bands can claim a place in Northern California music history quite like Cold Blood.
Emerging during the height of San Francisco’s legendary music scene, the group found its early home at Bill Graham’s iconic Fillmore Auditorium, where Lydia Pense’s unmistakable vocals quickly caught Graham’s attention. Impressed by both the singer and the band’s powerful sound, Graham signed Cold Blood to his newly formed record label, launching a career that would help define an entirely new musical movement.
Alongside Tower of Power, Cold Blood became one of the pioneering forces behind what came to be known as “East Bay Grease,” a distinctive blend of funk, soul and R&B that helped establish the Bay Area as one of America’s great musical incubators during the late 1960s and early 1970s.
