Seafood-and-sports restaurant coming to Broadstone Marketplace with April opening planned
In less than two months, Folsom diners will have a new way to crack crab, pass trays and catch the game as Chason’s Crab Stadium prepares to open its first location in the city this spring.
The Elk Grove-based seafood-and-sports restaurant is expanding into Broadstone Marketplace at 2700 E. Bidwell St., Suite 100, which has been a longtime home of Taiko Sushi. Taiko Sushi is remaining open during the transition, with renovations underway ahead of a planned April debut. The opening marks the first expansion outside of Elk Grove for the 2014-established concept and introduces a seafood boil format that has, until now, been exclusive to its original location.
Chason’s Crab Stadium was founded in 2014 by Peter Phong and partners. The food concept was inspired in part by Phong’s wife, Eva, whose knowledge of Vietnamese and Cajun cooking helped shape the restaurant’s seasoning styles and overall flavor profile. Phong’s background in food and hospitality contributed to the development of a concept built around bold spices, shareable plates and a casual sports-oriented setting.
At the heart of Chason’s food program is its seafood-by-the-pound model, anchored by the restaurant’s signature garlic butter crab. Diners select from a range of shellfish such as shrimp, snow crab legs, mussels and Manila clams, then choose seasoning blends and spice levels before the seafood is prepared. The seasoning approach blends Cajun influences with Vietnamese-inspired flavors.
The boil format emphasizes communal dining. Seafood is prepared and served for hands-on eating rather than individually plated entrées, encouraging guests to gather around trays or bags of shellfish and share the experience. That structure has defined the Elk Grove location for more than a decade and is expected to carry over to Folsom.
Beyond its signature boils, the menu includes a wide variety of appetizers and entrées. Starters at the Elk Grove location include Cajun fried shrimp, crispy calamari, cocktail shrimp and raw oysters offered by the half dozen or dozen. Entrées range from fish and chips with beer-battered fillets to grilled Atlantic salmon. Po’ boys featuring crab or shrimp are part of the sandwich lineup, alongside grilled chicken options.
Additional dishes include jambalaya prepared with sausage and shrimp, gumbo with chicken, sausage and shrimp, and seafood pasta loaded with shellfish. Surf-and-turf plates that pair steak with lobster tail are also featured. Sides such as garlic noodles, steamed rice, corn, sausage and cornbread complement the seafood offerings. The menu also includes children’s selections such as chicken tenders, quesadillas, cheeseburgers and garlic noodles, as well as desserts including ice cream and brownie sundaes.
The restaurant operates in a casual environment with large-screen televisions positioned throughout the dining area to accommodate sports broadcasts. A full bar program is part of the concept, offering draft and bottled beers, wine and cocktails.

The move into Folsom represents a significant milestone for the brand, which has operated solely in Elk Grove since opening. Ownership has indicated the Folsom restaurant will bring the same menu structure, seasoning styles and communal dining experience that define the original location.
The expansion comes as a handful of restaurant spaces within Broadstone Marketplace have changed hands over the past year, reflecting continued tenant movement within the East Bidwell Street shopping center.
One of the incoming additions to the center is The Breakfast Club at Midtown, a Bay Area-based breakfast and brunch restaurant planning its first Sacramento-region location. The restaurant will occupy the vacant space formerly home to Five Guys Burgers at 2750 E. Bidwell St., Suite 100. Five Guys permanently closed its Folsom location last year.
The Breakfast Club has operated for more than 30 years in cities including San Jose, Walnut Creek and Morgan Hill. Its menu centers on traditional breakfast and brunch offerings such as pancakes, omelets, bacon and classic breakfast plates.
Broadstone also recently saw the closure of Saigon Alley Kitchen + Bar, a Vietnamese restaurant that opened on East Bidwell Street in 2025. Ownership previously indicated the Folsom closure was tied to shifting focus to other business priorities within the restaurant group. That vacancy is not expected to remain empty for long. Palette Dim Sum & Lounge has committed to the former Saigon Alley space and is preparing to bring its dim sum and lounge concept to the center (see related story.)
Renovations continue inside the Broadstone suite as Chason’s Crab Stadium prepares for its anticipated April 2026 opening, introducing its seafood boil and sports bar format to Folsom diners this spring.
