Veteran Northern band brings years of big-stage experience to the Twilight Concert Series as the summer season enters its final two weeks
A band whose journey has taken it from small local clubs to performances with Sammy Hagar and appearances before thousands of professional sports fans will bring that experience to Historic Folsom Thursday night as Daze on the Green takes the stage for the latest installment of the 2026 Twilight Concert Series.
The free concert runs from 7:30 to 9:30 p.m. at the Zittel Family Amphitheater, where Daze on the Green will bring its high-energy live show to the heart of the Historic District. The performance is the second-to-last Thursday night concert of this year’s 13-week series, with Adam Aldama & The Aces scheduled to close out the season Aug. 27.
Presented by Bernau Development Corporation in partnership with the Folsom Historic District Association, the Twilight Concert Series has showcased a wide variety of Northern California bands throughout the summer, with each Thursday bringing a different style of music to the amphitheater.
This week’s performers arrive with a history that stretches back to 2008 and includes an unusual climb from private parties and neighborhood clubs to some of Northern California’s largest stages.
Daze on the Green spent its early years developing its sound and building a following through smaller performances. A turning point came in 2010 when the band entered KFOX 98.5’s “Last Band Standing” competition, facing a field of more than 300 entries.
The band’s name eventually came across the airwaves when KFOX personality and musician Greg Kihn announced Daze on the Green as one of the competition’s finalists. The recognition opened opportunities for larger performances and helped the group establish itself more prominently in the Bay Area live music scene.
Another major moment came three years later.
According to the band’s biography, legendary rocker and former Van Halen frontman Sammy Hagar came across a YouTube clip of Daze on the Green in 2013 and was impressed enough to contact the musicians directly.
“You guys are the best covered band I’ve ever heard,” Hagar told the group, according to the band’s account of the encounter.
That phone call led to Daze on the Green becoming the house band at Hagar’s Sammy’s Rockin’ Island Bar & Grill. The group also earned the opportunity to open for Hagar in concert, putting the musicians in front of thousands of fans and adding another milestone to the band’s growing résumé.
As Daze on the Green continued performing larger events, professional sports organizations began taking notice as well.
The band went on to perform for the San Francisco 49ers and San Jose Sharks, bringing its live show into the atmosphere surrounding major professional sporting events. In 2016, Daze on the Green became the official band of the San Jose Sharks, performing at the SAP Center and during the team’s Stanley Cup playoff run.
Those experiences helped shape a band accustomed to performing for audiences ranging from intimate gatherings to arenas filled with thousands of people.
Over the years, Daze on the Green has also remained active throughout the Northern California entertainment circuit, performing at city concert series, festivals, clubs, corporate events, weddings, private parties and other community celebrations. Its longevity and versatility have kept the group active well beyond the smaller stages where it began.
Thursday’s appearance continues a Twilight Concert Series season that has covered a particularly broad spectrum of music. This summer’s performers have included CCsegerR, Sugar High Band, Invisible Son, Wayward Buffalo, Steelin’ Dan, the Lyric Michelle Band, Hipper Than Hip, AKAlive, The LVVS and The Wayside, bringing everything from classic rock and country to funk, soul, New Wave and contemporary favorites to Historic Folsom.
Last week’s performance featured The Wayside, whose genre-spanning repertoire moved between Van Halen, Def Leppard and AC/DC to The Cure, Eric Church, House of Pain, Backstreet Boys and other familiar favorites from across the decades.
With Daze on the Green taking the stage this week, only one Thursday remains on the 2026 Twilight calendar. Adam Aldama & The Aces will close out the series Aug. 27, bringing the 13-week run of free summer concerts to an end.
Concertgoers attending Thursday’s show can arrive early to enjoy Historic Folsom before heading to the amphitheater, with restaurants, shops and businesses throughout the district within walking distance of the concert venue.
