California-born country artist blends Americana storytelling with soulful grit in Historic Folsom
Elijah Scott will bring his “Turnin’ Into Something” tour to the historic Folsom Hotel Saloon on Friday, Feb. 20, delivering a performance that blends traditional country storytelling with blues-infused soul and modern edge.
Scott is carving out a distinct place in today’s country music landscape, redefining the genre with a sound that feels deeply rooted yet refreshingly raw. His music fuses the narrative tradition of Americana with the grit of lived experience, creating songs that resonate far beyond the stage. His voice — raspy, gritty and unmistakable — carries emotional weight in every line, evoking comparisons to icons such as Johnny Cash and Chris Stapleton while maintaining a presence that is entirely his own.
Raised in the small town of Banning, California, Scott’s journey to the spotlight was shaped by both hardship and determination. Growing up with a single mother, he found refuge in country music, especially the records passed down by his grandfather. A formative childhood concert featuring Toby Keith cemented his love for the genre and set him on a path that has steadily gained momentum.
His upbringing was not without challenges. Navigating an environment where outside influences often pulled young people off course, Scott remained focused on music. That resilience now echoes throughout his songwriting. His work captures the tension between struggle and hope, grit and grace, hardship and perseverance.
A self-taught songwriter, Scott approaches music with instinct and authenticity. He often writes from freestyle inspiration, shaping lyrics that reflect real experiences rather than polished fiction. Every song stems from moments that have marked his life, heartbreak, family, loss and redemption. His breakout track “Cigarettes” emerged from a simple exchange with his mother, proof that everyday moments can spark powerful storytelling when viewed through an honest lens.
That commitment to authenticity has helped Scott build a growing audience drawn to his emotional transparency and grounded presence. Rather than chasing trends, he leans into truth, allowing his voice and stories to speak plainly. It is that approach that defines the “Turnin’ Into Something” tour — a name that reflects transformation, perseverance and artistic evolution.
Friday’s performance will take place at the Folsom Hotel Saloon, one of the region’s most recognizable live music venues. Established in 1885, the historic Folsom Hotel sits in the heart of the Folsom Historic District and remains a cornerstone of the city’s nightlife and touring circuit. Its intimate layout creates a close connection between artist and audience, amplifying the emotional intensity of performances like Scott’s.
Doors open at 7 p.m. Friday, Feb. 20, at the Folsom Hotel Saloon, located at 703 Sutter St. The show is open to all ages. General admission tickets are available atwww.folsomhotelsaloon.com.
