Cherisha and Furnace Woods join hometown lineup showcasing original Northern California music in Orangevale
A trio of Northern California bands will bring an evening of original rock music to The Boardwalk this Saturday as Exhale headlines a lineup that also features Cherisha and Furnace Woods, highlighting some of the Sacramento region’s emerging and established original artists.
Beginning at 8 p.m. Saturday, July 11, the all-ages concert showcases three bands spanning alternative rock, indie rock and folk-rock influences while continuing The Boardwalk’s tradition of supporting original music alongside its steady lineup of tribute acts and touring performers.
Headlining the evening is Sacramento’s Exhale, a band that first emerged on the local music scene in 2010 with an energetic sound shaped by influences including The Dead Weather, Foo Fighters and Red Hot Chili Peppers.
Known for explosive live performances and an unmistakable stage presence, Exhale built a loyal regional following through its combination of driving guitar riffs, powerful vocals and high-energy performances that demanded attention.

Now, more than a decade after its formation, the band is entering a new chapter as it prepares to release its second studio album. According to the band, the upcoming record will stay true to the sound longtime fans have embraced while introducing a fresh evolution of the group’s songwriting and musicianship.
The current lineup features Emma Simpson on vocals and bass, Taylor Wong on guitar and Orrey Severet on drums. Together, the trio is aiming to reestablish Exhale as one of Northern California’s premier original rock acts while expanding its reach throughout California.
Opening the evening is Cherisha, a four-piece folk-alt-rock band with roots in both Sacramento and the Bay Area.

Blending emotionally driven storytelling with soaring electric guitars, layered harmonies and an energetic live show, Cherisha bridges the gap between folk-inspired songwriting and modern alternative rock. The band’s powerful lead vocals serve as the centerpiece of performances that balance intimate moments with driving rock arrangements.
Also appearing is Furnace Woods, a Sacramento indie rock band whose music centers on deeply personal songwriting and emotionally honest lyrics.
The group’s songs have been described as conversations that were probably long overdue, pairing confessional storytelling with melodic indie rock arrangements. Following the release of its debut EP, The Plot Wanders On, in May 2025, Furnace Woods quickly gained momentum throughout the Sacramento music scene, including a performance on the closing night of the city’s long-running Concerts in the Park series.

The band is currently preparing to release its sophomore EP later this summer. The upcoming project was recorded with respected Bay Area indie and emo producer Ben Hirschfield, whose production credits include The Story So Far, Mom Jeans and Elder Brother. Along with new music, Furnace Woods continues expanding its live performances beyond the Sacramento region.
Saturday’s lineup offers audiences an opportunity to experience three distinctly different approaches to original rock music, ranging from Exhale’s hard-hitting alternative sound to Cherisha’s folk-rock influences and Furnace Woods’ introspective indie style.
Located at 9426 Greenback Lane in Orangevale, The Boardwalk has remained one of the Sacramento region’s premier live music venues for decades, hosting national touring acts, tribute bands, original artists, comedy performances and specialty entertainment events.
The show begins at 8 p.m. Saturday, July 11. It is open to all ages, though guests under 21 must be accompanied by a parent or guardian. All ticket sales are final. Tickets and additional event information are available at www.rocktheboardwalk.com.
