Large law enforcement presence converges on Twin Bridges resort before threat determined unfounded

TWIN BRIDGES — A report of an active shooter at Sierra-at-Tahoe Resort on Saturday afternoon triggered a significant multi-agency law enforcement response before authorities determined the threat was unfounded.

At approximately 2:15 p.m. on Feb. 21, officers were dispatched to the resort at 1111 Sierra-at-Tahoe Road following a report of a possible active shooter. The call prompted an immediate and coordinated response from the California Highway Patrol, the South Lake Tahoe Police Department and deputies with the El Dorado County Sheriff’s Office.

Authorities treated the situation as a potential armed threat, responding with urgency to ensure the safety of guests, employees and visitors at the popular mountain ski resort.

Before law enforcement arrived, Sierra-at-Tahoe staff were alerted to the potential threat and quickly implemented internal safety procedures to protect guests and employees. Resort personnel moved to notify staff and secure areas as a precaution, prioritizing the well-being of everyone on site while awaiting confirmation from authorities.

When officers reached the scene and conducted a thorough assessment, they determined the report of an active shooter was false. Investigators found no evidence of an armed individual or immediate threat to public safety.

Officials have not released additional details about the source of the call. Authorities emphasized that all reports of potential violence are taken seriously and require a full and coordinated response to protect the public.

Although the incident caused temporary concern for those at the resort and in the surrounding Twin Bridges area, officials confirmed there was no danger to guests or the community. No injuries were reported, and operations at Sierra-at-Tahoe were able to continue after the scene was cleared.
