EL DORADO HILLS – One of the region’s largest Independence Day celebrations returns Friday as El Dorado Hills Town Center hosts its 15th annual Fireworks & Freedom celebration, bringing together live music, family activities, food, and a spectacular fireworks display expected to draw tens of thousands of visitors.
The free community celebration runs from 6 p.m. to 11 p.m. on Friday July 3 at El Dorado Hills Town Center, located at 4364 Town Center Blvd. Organizers say the annual event has attracted crowds of approximately 31,000 people in past years, making it one of the area’s premier Independence Day traditions.
The evening will feature live entertainment on two stages, highlighted by Northern California party band Hip Service, which will take the Town Center Amphitheater stage from 8 p.m. until the fireworks program begins before returning immediately after the show with a dance set that continues until 11 p.m. Funk Shui is scheduled to perform in Theatre Plaza beginning at 6 p.m., providing music for guests throughout the evening.
The celebration’s centerpiece will be the annual fireworks spectacular, launching from three separate locations, including both sides of the Town Center lake and the top of the Regal Theatre. Following a brief test firework around 8:30 p.m., organizers plan to begin the fireworks program shortly after the National Anthem at approximately 9:40 p.m.
Families arriving early will find plenty to enjoy before darkness falls. A Kids Zone featuring bounce houses, face painting, balloon artists, shaved ice and a DJ will provide entertainment leading up to the fireworks show. Visitors can also explore Town Center’s restaurants and businesses throughout the evening, with organizers encouraging guests to make dinner reservations in advance due to the expected crowds.
For those hoping to secure seating inside the amphitheater, an online waitlist for early chair setup opens at noon on July 3. Participants should line up approximately 15 minutes before the 5 p.m. gate opening at the corner of Brickyard Drive and Holiday Inn Drive in numerical order based on their registration. Each person on the waitlist may bring up to four people into the amphitheater.
Admission to the event is free, and visitors are welcome to bring lawn chairs to enjoy the evening. Organizers note that blankets, personal tables, barbecues and roped-off seating areas will not be permitted. In addition, outside alcoholic beverages, beverages of any kind and ice chests are prohibited due to alcohol beverage regulations, while bags and coolers brought into the amphitheater will be subject to security screening.
With hot summer weather expected, organizers encourage guests to stay hydrated. Cooling stations and misting tents will be available at multiple locations throughout Town Center, along with first aid stations, information booths and ADA-accessible restrooms.
Public safety remains a major focus for the annual celebration. El Dorado Hills Fire Department, the California Highway Patrol, the El Dorado County Sheriff’s Office, private security personnel and event staff will be on hand throughout the evening to help ensure a safe experience for attendees. Organizers ask guests to immediately report suspicious activity, unattended bags or coolers, or anyone needing medical assistance.
The Fireworks & Freedom celebration has become one of El Dorado Hills’ signature summer traditions, combining live entertainment, community gathering and one of the region’s largest fireworks displays as families gather to celebrate the Independence Day holiday.
