‘Six-Pack with a Purpose’ returns in September to support children battling cancer and their families

FOLSOM — Folsom-based Jimboy’s Tacos is continuing its partnership with Keaton’s Child Cancer Alliance this September, bringing back its “Six-Pack with a Purpose” campaign to raise funds for children battling cancer and their families during Childhood Cancer Awareness Month.

Beginning Sept. 1 and continuing throughout the month, Jimboy’s Tacos will donate $1 from every six-pack order of its signature Parmesan-dusted tacos. The monthlong promotion will take place at all Jimboy’s Tacos locations throughout Northern California and in the Reno, Nevada, area.

The campaign builds on the partnership between Jimboy’s and Keaton’s Child Cancer Alliance established last year, when the two organizations joined forces for the September fundraiser. Proceeds help Keaton’s provide financial, emotional and educational support to families navigating a pediatric cancer diagnosis.

“We are thrilled to continue partnering with Keaton’s Child Cancer Alliance to raise awareness for such a worthwhile cause,” said Erik Freeman, CEO of Jimboy’s Tacos and grandson of founder Jim “Jimboy” Knudson. “We are proud to be able to provide much-needed support for every child, their parents, and family members dealing with a heart-wrenching cancer diagnosis. Our hearts and healthy wishes are with these brave and resilient children and their forever-hopeful families.”

The fundraiser is designed to generate financial support for Keaton’s programs while also raising awareness of childhood cancer throughout September. Keaton’s provides family-centered services addressing the emotional, financial and educational impacts that can accompany a pediatric cancer diagnosis. (Child Cancer)

Customers will also have another way to participate during the campaign. Guests who purchase a six-pack or make a donation to Keaton’s Child Cancer Alliance will have the opportunity to personalize a “Wall of Hope” donation card. The cards will be displayed on walls inside Jimboy’s restaurants throughout the promotion.

“This continued partnership with Jimboy’s Tacos makes a lasting impact for children battling cancer and their families,” said Jessica Alonso, executive director of Keaton’s Child Cancer Alliance. “We’re deeply grateful to their team and generous guests for believing in our mission and standing alongside our families to ensure no one navigates the childhood cancer journey alone.”

Founded in 1998, Keaton’s Child Cancer Alliance is a nonprofit organization that works with major oncology hospitals throughout Northern California. Its mission centers on providing emotional, educational and financial assistance to children with cancer and their families while increasing awareness and supporting research toward cures.

Among its services is the organization’s Family Navigator Program, which connects families with information, resources, education and individual support as they navigate treatment and the challenges associated with a childhood cancer diagnosis.

The September fundraiser also continues a longstanding tradition of community involvement for Jimboy’s Tacos. The company traces its roots to 1954, when Knudson began serving tacos from a food trailer in Lake Tahoe. Its Original Ground Beef Taco, featuring a Parmesan-dusted shell, became the foundation of a restaurant brand that has since grown to nearly 40 locations across California and Nevada.

More than 70 years after its founding, family owned Jimboy’s maintains its corporate base in Folsom while operating restaurants throughout the region.
