Forty-eight teachers complete two-year program focused on coaching, reflection and student-centered instruction
The Folsom Cordova Unified School District celebrated 48 teachers who completed the district’s Teacher Induction Program during an end-of-year celebration May 7 at the Folsom Community Center, marking the culmination of two years of work toward clearing their teaching credentials.
The event brought together principals, teachers and district leaders to recognize educators in both the first and second years of the program, while highlighting the professional growth, collaboration and classroom impact developed through the induction process.
“Watching teachers share in the joy of learning, supporting and coaching new educators, and build lasting relationships is truly rewarding,” said Joanie Cunningham, coordinator of New Teacher Support and Development. “It’s inspiring to see how they continue to uplift and help other teachers grow.”
The evening included a reception, welcome remarks from district leadership and a collaborative activity that reflected the program’s emphasis on shared learning and professional connection. The celebration concluded with recognition of Year 1 candidates and the presentation of completion awards to Year 2 candidates, honoring their commitment to professional growth and student success.

Throughout the two-year program, teachers participated in individualized coaching, goal setting and ongoing reflection designed to strengthen instructional practices and support positive outcomes for students. The program also emphasizes mentorship, targeted coaching, collaboration and continuous improvement as educators refine their classroom practices.
For participants, the program offered not only professional development but also meaningful connections with colleagues across school sites.
“Last year, there were a lot of teachers who were in their second year at my school, so I got perspectives from them, having already been through year one of induction,” said Peter Wells, a teacher at Cordova Villa Elementary School. “I really liked making connections with people I didn’t necessarily connect with at school, but made connections here, and now I still talk with them at school because we have that relationship we made during this process.”

Completing the Teacher Induction Program represents a significant professional milestone for new educators as they move forward with strengthened skills, deeper insight and a renewed dedication to meeting the needs of all learners.
The Folsom Cordova Unified School District congratulated all 2026 Teacher Induction graduates for their accomplishment and continued commitment to students and learning.
