Folsom Fire, Folsom Police team with Vitalant for June 3 community donation event
Folsom residents will once again have an opportunity to help save lives while showing support for their local first responders as the Folsom Fire Department and Folsom Police Department prepare to square off in a friendly community competition during the upcoming Battle of the Badges Blood Drive in partnership with Vitalant.
The campaign encourages community members to donate blood while casting a symbolic vote for either Folsom Fire or Folsom Police, adding a spirited rivalry element to an event centered on helping meet ongoing regional blood supply needs. The drive also serves as another example of the two departments coming together off the front lines to support the broader community in a different but equally important way.
The blood drive will take place Wednesday, June 3, from 10 a.m. to 2:30 p.m. at the Folsom Community Center, located at 52 Natoma Street in Historic Folsom. Community members are encouraged to schedule appointments in advance, although walk-ins will also be accepted as space allows throughout the day.
All donors participating in the event will receive an official Battle of the Badges T-shirt while supplies last.
Representatives of Vitalant said a single blood donation can help multiple patients in need, with donations continuing to play a critical role in supporting emergency medical treatment, surgeries, trauma care and patients battling serious illnesses. Blood donations are needed consistently throughout the year, particularly during busy travel and summer seasons when donation numbers often decline.
Representatives of Vitalant said the donation process typically takes about one hour from registration to completion. Donors are encouraged to eat a healthy meal beforehand, stay well hydrated and bring a valid photo identification card to their appointment.
Appointments can be scheduled online at donors.vitalant.org using blood drive code 100560023 or by calling 877-258-4825.
The event is expected to draw support from residents throughout the Folsom area while providing a meaningful way for the community to directly contribute to lifesaving medical care across the region.
