Local student musicians bring home multiple awards, including adjudicators distinction and spirit honor
The Folsom High School choir program is celebrating a major national achievement after earning multiple top honors at the WorldStrides Heritage Festival held March 12, 2026, in Orlando, Florida.
Competing against top student ensembles from across the country, the Folsom High School Choir received a Gold Rating, secured second place in the A Division, and was awarded the prestigious Adjudicators Award for scoring above 95 out of 100. The group also earned the Spirit Award, recognizing its professionalism, positivity and representation throughout the event.
The performance drew strong praise from festival judges, who cited the choir’s stage presence, expressive musicality and unified sound as standout elements. Evaluators also noted the group’s excellent tone quality, dynamic contrast and carefully selected repertoire, all of which contributed to a performance that connected with both adjudicators and audiences alike.
The recognition marks another milestone for the school’s growing music program, reflecting the commitment and discipline of its student performers as well as the leadership guiding them. Under the direction of Melanie Huber, the ensemble has continued to build a reputation for musical excellence through both local and national performances.
The awards earned in Orlando highlight not only the technical ability of the choir, but also the collaboration and dedication required to compete at a national level. The Spirit Award in particular underscores the group’s character and unity throughout the festival experience.
As the program continues to grow, the achievement serves as a reflection of the strength of music education within the Folsom Cordova Unified School District and the opportunities it provides for students to perform, compete and excel beyond the classroom.
