Registration for the fall 2026 recreational soccer season with Folsom Lake Surf opens April 1, offering local youth athletes a chance to take the field in one of the region’s largest and most community-focused programs.

The registration window runs through May 31, with organizers encouraging families to sign up early to secure placement. Players who register during the month of April will receive a $35 early bird discount, while those who wait until after the deadline risk being placed on a waitlist without a guaranteed spot on a team.

The program is open to players from U5 through U19 and is designed to provide a fun, inclusive and development-focused environment for athletes of all skill levels. Whether new to the sport or continuing to build on prior experience, participants are offered opportunities to grow their skills, compete, and connect with teammates across the region.

Folsom Lake Surf’s recreational program emphasizes fostering a love for the game while building a strong developmental foundation. The organization also aims to create additional opportunities for players seeking to advance within the sport, while continuing to strengthen community connections through youth athletics.

Age group play is structured to align with developmental stages. The youngest divisions, U5 and U6, compete in a 4-on-4 format within the Folsom Lake Surf Community League. U7 and U8 divisions expand to 7-on-7 play, continuing within the community league structure.

Players in the U9 through U14 divisions participate in the Three Bridges Soccer Group League, which includes teams from neighboring communities such as Rancho Cordova, Fair Oaks, Carmichael and Orangevale. These age groups compete in formats ranging from 7-on-7 to 11-on-11, depending on division.

At the high school level, U15 through U19 players compete in the Super Rec League, organized by NorCal Premier Soccer, featuring full 11-on-11 matches and expanded regional competition.

Program leaders say the goal remains consistent across all divisions: to create a meaningful and engaging experience that prioritizes fun, development and community while preparing players for future opportunities in the sport if they choose to pursue them.
