Local officials and community figures will face the dunk tank Saturday to support improvements at the Folsom City Zoo Sanctuary
Folsom’s 80th anniversary celebration will come with a splash Saturday as Leadership Folsom brings a community dunk tank fundraiser to Lions Park, giving residents a chance to take aim at local leaders while supporting the Friends of the Folsom Zoo Sanctuary.
The fundraiser is part of the city’s free, family-friendly 80th anniversary celebration, scheduled for 10 a.m. Saturday, May 9, at Folsom City Lions Park, 403 Stafford St. Participants are scheduled in 30-minute blocks from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m., with proceeds supporting Leadership Folsom’s campaign to revitalize the entrance at the Folsom City Zoo Sanctuary.
Those stepping into the dunk tank lineup include Mayor Justin Raithel, Folsom Police Chief Adam Green, Folsom police Lt. Lou Wright, Folsom Fire Department Assistant Chief Brian Beck, Folsom High School Principal Howard Cadenhead, Snook’s Candies & Chocolate Factory owner Jim Snook, Uncle Charlie’s Firehouse & Brew owner Taryn Grows and Choose Folsom Ambassador Chair Reese Punter.
The fundraiser supports a record-setting Leadership Folsom campaign aimed at enhancing the zoo sanctuary’s entrance and creating a more welcoming experience for families, students and visitors. The Folsom City Zoo Sanctuary provides a safe haven for dozens of animals while offering families a place to connect, learn and celebrate wildlife.

The dunk tank will be one of several interactive experiences planned during the city’s 80th anniversary celebration. The event will also feature the return of the popular Snail Race competition, live entertainment, train rides and classic carnival-style games. The celebration will include free admission to the Folsom City Zoo Sanctuary for children 12 and under, with free entry available for the first 500 youth guests accompanied by an adult.
