Residents may notice an increased law enforcement presence today, July 30, as the Folsom Police Department conducts a full-day officer training exercise at Alder Creek Elementary School.
The training is scheduled to take place today from 7 a.m. to 5 p.m. at the school. Because school is not in session, no students will be present during the exercise.
During the training, community members may see uniformed officers, marked Folsom Police vehicles, K9 teams and the department’s Armored Rescue Vehicle operating on and around the campus.
According to the Folsom Police Department, the exercise will consist of scenario-based training designed to enhance officer readiness and ensure personnel remain prepared to respond to critical incidents.
As part of the training, officers may be seen moving throughout the campus carrying training firearms that are specifically designed for law enforcement exercises and are incapable of firing live ammunition.
For the safety of participants and the public, the school campus and parking lot will be closed throughout the duration of the training. Signs reading “Police Training in Progress” and “Police K9 Training in Progress” will be posted around the area.
Police emphasized that the increased activity is part of a planned training event and urged residents not to be alarmed if they observe a heightened law enforcement presence. The department said the training is an important part of maintaining officer preparedness and ensuring officers remain ready to respond to critical incidents while continuing to provide the high level of service the Folsom community expects.
Residents are asked to avoid the school campus during the training and to follow all posted signage and directions from law enforcement personnel working in the area.
