The Folsom Police Department and Folsom Fire Department are taking time this week to recognize a group they say plays an essential role in keeping the community connected and supported, honoring CAPS volunteers as part of National Volunteer Week.
In a message of appreciation shared during the nationwide observance, the departments highlighted the contributions of CAPS volunteers—community members who donate their time and energy to assist both police and fire operations throughout the city.
According to officials, CAPS volunteers are involved in a wide range of duties, from assisting at community events and working behind the scenes on administrative tasks to serving as additional eyes and ears in local neighborhoods. Their presence helps extend the reach of public safety services while strengthening relationships with residents.

“Quite simply, we couldn’t do what we do without them,” the departments shared in a joint message, emphasizing the daily impact volunteers have across Folsom.
The CAPS program, which stands for Citizens Assisting Public Safety, is built on the idea that community involvement is a key component of effective policing and emergency response. Volunteers often provide support that allows sworn personnel and first responders to focus on critical duties, while also enhancing visibility and engagement throughout the city.
As part of the recognition, officials extended their gratitude directly to those who serve in the program, thanking them for their commitment, partnership, and pride in supporting Folsom’s public safety mission.
The recognition comes as agencies nationwide mark National Volunteer Week, an annual opportunity to celebrate the individuals who give back to their communities through service. In Folsom, officials say that spirit is reflected every day through the work of CAPS volunteers, whose contributions continue to make a meaningful difference across the city.
