Police say concerned citizens reported suspected impaired driver near Iron Point and Grover roads
A driver was arrested in Folsom last week after police said he was found to be driving under the influence with a blood alcohol concentration measured at more than four times the legal limit.
According to theFolsom Police Department, concerned citizens contacted authorities on May 1 to report a suspected impaired driver in the area of Iron Point Road and Grover Road.
Officers quickly located the vehicle and conducted a traffic stop. Police said the driver was the sole occupant of the vehicle at the time of the stop.
Following field sobriety tests and a preliminary alcohol screening, officers determined the driver’s blood alcohol concentration measured 0.349%, well above California’s legal limit of 0.08% for drivers. Police said the driver was arrested on suspicion of driving under the influence and booked into the Sacramento County Main Jail.
In a statement accompanying the incident report, the department thanked the citizens who reported the suspected impaired driver, noting that public vigilance plays an important role in helping keep the community safe.
Police also used the incident as a reminder about the dangers of impaired driving, encouraging residents to plan ahead if consuming alcohol by using a designated driver, rideshare service, or other safe transportation option.
