City officials and members of the Community Service Day Steering Committee are encouraging residents, neighborhood groups, schools, nonprofits and community organizations to submit project ideas as the deadline approaches for Folsom’s 13th annual Community Service Day.
Project proposals for the Sept. 19 event must be submitted by Friday, June 26, giving community members just a few weeks remaining to identify service projects that could benefit neighborhoods, public spaces, schools, senior residents and local nonprofit organizations.
Community Service Day has become one of Folsom’s signature volunteer events, bringing together hundreds of residents of all ages to complete projects that create a lasting impact throughout the city. The annual effort is organized through a partnership involving the City of Folsom, local businesses, nonprofit organizations and community stakeholders.
City officials and members of the Community Service Day Steering Committee are encouraging anyone with an idea that could improve the community to submit a proposal for consideration. Potential projects may include beautification efforts, repairs, enhancements to public spaces, assistance for local nonprofits or other initiatives that address community needs.
Submitted projects will be reviewed for inclusion in the annual event, with selected projects becoming part of the citywide volunteer effort that mobilizes hundreds of residents to complete community improvement projects throughout Folsom in a single day.
The 2026 Community Service Day will take place Saturday, Sept. 19, with volunteers working on projects throughout the community. In addition to hands-on service projects, the event traditionally includes donation drives and community support efforts benefiting local organizations and residents in need.
Since its inception, Community Service Day has generated a significant impact across Folsom. More than 24,900 volunteers have participated in the annual event, helping complete more than 1,130 projects benefiting schools, parks, nature preserves, trails, the Folsom Public Library, the Folsom City Zoo Sanctuary and numerous local service organizations.
The event has also resulted in the collection of more than 691,000 pounds of food for Twin Lakes Food Bank and the completion of more than 660 exterior home repair and maintenance projects for Folsom senior citizens.
Volunteers have assembled thousands of care packages for active-duty military service members and collected thousands of donated items for local nonprofits. Previous donation efforts have included bicycles, eyeglasses, shelter pet supplies, toiletries, holiday gifts and other essential items that support community organizations and residents throughout the region.
Community Service Day continues to provide opportunities for residents to work together on projects that enhance the quality of life in Folsom while strengthening connections between neighbors, businesses, schools and nonprofit organizations.
