Two people were transported to local hospitals Friday evening following a fight in Historic Folsom that led to one arrest as police continue investigating the circumstances surrounding the confrontation.
According to Folsom police, officers responded to multiple reports of a fight at approximately 8:30 p.m. on the 600 block of Sutter Street, the heart of Historic Folsom’s entertainment district lined with restaurants, bars and retail shops.
One suspect was reportedly arrested and booked into the Sacramento County Main Jail on suspicion of battery causing serious bodily injury. Under California law, the charge can carry a penalty of up to one year in county jail if prosecuted as a misdemeanor, though charging decisions ultimately rest with the Sacramento County District Attorney’s Office.
The altercation occurred outside multiple dining establishments along the 900 block of Sutter Street during one of the district’s busiest evenings of the week, drawing a significant emergency response and the attention of numerous bystanders.
Folsom police have not released additional details regarding what led to the confrontation, the identities of those involved, or whether additional arrests are anticipated as the investigation continues.
Accounts shared publicly on social media Friday night shared that members of the family involved allege the confrontation began after a man and woman riding a motorcycle arrived outside a nearby restaurant following a birthday celebration.
According to the statements , members of the family cited that the motorcycle had come too close to people standing in the parking lot, after which the encounter escalated into a physical altercation that grew in size as more became involved. The account further alleged punches were thrown, a female family member who attempted to intervene was struck, and racial slurs were used during the incident.
The accuracy of the claims and witnesses comments have not been confirmed by the Folsom Police Department, and investigators have not publicly verified what prompted the fight or whether the reported details accurately reflect what occurred.
