Law enforcement cites investigation continues as they work to identify other riders involved
A 16-year-old Folsom resident was arrested after a motorcycle pursuit ended in a crash, an incident the California Highway Patrol (CHP) says began with numerous reports of a group riding motorcycles and electric motorcycles recklessly through El Dorado Hills.
According to reports shared by the CHP, officers responded after receiving multiple calls regarding the group Monday, whose members were reportedly riding dangerously in the community and repeatedly taunting residents and law enforcement officers.
The activity prompted what CHP described as a significant law enforcement response.
At some point during the response, officers attempted to stop one of the motorcycles. CHP said the rider refused to stop and fled, prompting a pursuit through the area.
The pursuit ended when the motorcycle rider crashed. CHP identified the rider only as a 16-year-old Folsom resident due to his age.
The teenager was taken into custody following the crash and subsequently booked into a juvenile detention facility in South Lake Tahoe. CHP did not provide details regarding injuries from the crash or specify what charges the teen faces.
While the pursuit resulted in one arrest, investigators said the case remains active as they work to determine the identities of other riders believed to have been involved in the incidents.
“This is an ongoing criminal investigation, and CHP investigators are working to identify the other riders involved in this group and hold them accountable for their actions,” the agency shared in an email.

CHP also emphasized the danger posed by the reported behavior, noting that reckless riding creates risks not only for those operating the motorcycles but also for residents, motorists and others using area roadways.
“Our relentless pursuit of safety on El Dorado County roads will not waver,” CHP said. “Reckless and dangerous riding puts the riders, residents, and everyone sharing our roads at risk.”
Investigators are asking residents who witnessed the activity or may have captured video or other evidence involving the riders to contact the California Highway Patrol.
The investigation remains ongoing, and additional arrests could follow if investigators identify others involved.
