The free community concert is set for Saturday from 6:30 to 8:30 p.m., inviting residents and visitors to gather for an evening of live music, dancing and relaxed springtime vibes in the heart of the Historic District.

Granite City 909 brings a sound rooted in classic rock traditions, drawing on decades of musical experience and deep local ties. The band’s name itself reflects that connection, paying tribute to Folsom’s early “Granite City” identity as well as the elementary school at 909 that helped shape the musicians’ early years.

The group features guitarist Jay Freeman, a Houston native who toured extensively in the early 1970s alongside acts like ZZ Top and Ted Nugent before transitioning into the corporate world and later representing Wells Fargo in the Fortune Magazine Battle of the Corporate Bands. He is joined by Southern California native Steve Miklos, a longtime Folsom City Councilmember and former mayor, whose musical style is infused with the vibrant energy of 1970s rock and influenced by family ties to the Las Vegas show scene.

On drums, Dave Bunker brings decades of experience to the stage. A Folsom resident and U.S. Army veteran, Bunker has been performing since the age of 10 and has played with numerous bands across California, adding a steady, seasoned backbone to the group’s sound. Together, the trio delivers a performance that captures the spirit of an iconic era in music while connecting it to the local community that helped shape the band’s identity, blending recognizable hits with the kind of stage presence that keeps audiences engaged from start to finish.

Presented by Folsom Rotary, the Spring Concert Series offers free, family-friendly entertainment throughout the season and continues to draw residents together for evenings centered around live music and community connection in one of the city’s most popular outdoor venues.

Following Saturday’s performance, the series continues with Hired Mortals on May 2, bringing a wide-ranging set of hits from the 1960s through the 1990s, before wrapping up May 9 with G-Ride, a band known for its upbeat mix of funk and disco that closes out the spring lineup on a lively note. Each concert in the series maintains the same 6:30 to 8:30 p.m. schedule at the Zittel Family Amphitheater.

Attendees are encouraged to bring lawn chairs or blankets, enjoy takeout from nearby Historic Folsom restaurants and settle in for an evening of classic rock under the spring sky, with the remaining concerts offering additional opportunities to experience a variety of musical styles as the season progresses.

As the spring series continues, it also serves as a lead-in to Folsom’s broader outdoor concert season, with more live music expected to follow in the months ahead in Historic Folsom.
