A pedestrian was killed Sunday evening in Orangevale after being struck by two vehicles while crossing Greenback Lane, authorities confirmed.
The collision occurred near the intersection of Greenback Lane and Main Avenue. Emergency crews were dispatched to the scene at approximately 8:35 p.m., according to dispatch records.
Sacramento Metropolitan Fire District’s Engine 22 responded along with Medic 32. Deputies from the Sacramento County Sheriff’s Office also arrived and are leading the investigation.
According to officials, the pedestrian was crossing the roadway outside of a marked crosswalk when they were first struck by a vehicle. Shortly afterward, a second vehicle also struck the individual.
First responders began life-saving efforts, but the victim was pronounced dead at the scene.
Both drivers remained at the scene and are cooperating with investigators. Authorities said neither driving under the influence nor excessive speed are considered factors in the crash.
The identity of the deceased has not yet been released pending notification of next of kin. The investigation remained underway Sunday night.
