Week three of popular summer concert series features tribute to one of rock’s most influential bands
Three weeks into another successful summer season, Historic Folsom’s Twilight Concert Series continues Thursday night with a performance dedicated to one of the most influential and recognizable bands of the late 1970s and early 1980s.
Taking the stage at the Zittel Family Amphitheater this week is Invisible Son, a trio that has built its reputation on faithfully recreating the music, energy and sound of The Police. Billed as “The Definitive Live Experience of The Police,” the group brings audiences back to an era when Sting, Andy Summers and Stewart Copeland dominated radio airwaves with a unique blend of rock, reggae, punk and new wave influences.
Presented by Bernau Development Corporation in partnership with the Folsom Historic District Association, the Twilight Concert Series continues its 13-week summer run with free Thursday evening concerts through Aug. 27. The series has already drawn strong crowds during its opening weeks, beginning with CCsegerR’s tribute to Bob Seger and Creedence Clearwater Revival and followed by last week’s energetic performance from Sugar High Band.
This week’s featured act offers a musical journey through one of rock’s most celebrated catalogs. From the reggae-infused rhythms of “Roxanne” and “Can’t Stand Losing You” to the atmospheric sounds of “Walking on the Moon” and “Message in a Bottle,” Invisible Son recreates the songs that helped propel The Police to international stardom. Fans can also expect to hear favorites such as “King of Pain,” “Synchronicity II” and the band’s iconic hit, “Every Breath You Take.”
The band’s name itself pays tribute to The Police’s 1981 single “Invisible Sun,” a track featured on the group’s fourth studio album, Ghost in the Machine. For members of the tribute act, the song represents the spirit of a band whose influence continues to resonate more than four decades after its release.
Invisible Son was formed by three musicians dedicated to capturing every aspect of a live Police performance. Their goal extends beyond simply performing the songs. The trio focuses on recreating the distinctive tone, arrangements and stage presence that made the original band one of the most successful acts in music history.
Leading the group is bassist and vocalist Scott Rodell, who channels Sting’s signature vocal style while delivering the melodic bass lines that became a defining part of The Police’s sound. Guitarist Frankie Consulo recreates the atmospheric textures and distinctive guitar work associated with Andy Summers, while drummer Paul Marr brings the explosive energy and reggae-inspired grooves that helped make Stewart Copeland one of rock’s most recognizable drummers.
Together, the trio delivers a performance that appeals to longtime fans who remember The Police’s rise to global fame as well as younger audiences discovering the band’s music for the first time.
The performance continues what has become one of Folsom’s favorite summer traditions. Each Thursday evening, visitors fill Historic Folsom to enjoy live music, local restaurants, outdoor dining and the unique atmosphere of the Historic District. The series has long served as a gathering place for residents and visitors alike, combining community, entertainment and summer evenings in one of the city’s most recognizable settings.
Following Thursday’s concert, the Twilight Concert Series continues June 25 with Wayward Buffalo before welcoming Steelin’ Dan on July 2, Lyric Michelle Band on July 9, Hipper than Hip on July 16, AKAlive Band on July 23 and LVVS on July 30. The August lineup features Dunsbar Road, Wayside Band and Daze on the Green before the season concludes Aug. 27 with Adam Aldama & The Aces.
The 2026 Twilight Concert Series is made possible through the support of numerous local sponsors and community partners. The Folsom Chamber of Commerce and Folsom Times will host its official Ribbon Cutting and App Launch Party on Thursday from 4:30 p.m. to 7 p.m. at Uncle Charlie’s Firehouse & Brew, located at 905 Leidesdorff Street. The event will celebrate the launch of the new Folsom Times mobile app while providing an opportunity for readers, advertisers, community partners and supporters to gather before the evening’s Twilight Concert Series performance.
Located just steps from the Historic District parking garage and a short walk from the Zittel Family Amphitheater, the event offers concertgoers an opportunity to kick off the evening early while learning more about the publication’s expanding digital offerings and future plans. Guests will have the opportunity to meet members of the Folsom Times team and join in celebrating the continued growth of local community journalism serving Folsom and the surrounding region.
Following the ribbon cutting and launch celebration, attendees can make their way to the amphitheater for an evening of music from Invisible Son as week three of the Twilight Concert Series gets underway.
