As the California State Fair enters inches towards wrapping up its first week, one of the event’s most anticipated midweek concerts takes center stage Wednesday night when reggae-rock favorite Iration brings its signature island sound to the Toyota Concert Series on the Sky River Casino Stage.
For nearly two decades, Iration has built a reputation as one of the premier acts in the reggae-rock genre, blending the laid-back spirit of Hawaii with polished musicianship and infectious melodies that have earned the band millions of fans around the world. Wednesday’s performance brings that unmistakable island vibe to Cal Expo as the Fair continues a lineup of nationally recognized artists performing nightly through Aug. 2.
Although the band officially formed while its members attended college in Isla Vista near the University of California, Santa Barbara, Iration’s story begins thousands of miles away in Hawaii. Every original member of the band grew up on the islands before relocating to California, carrying with them the musical influences, culture and relaxed lifestyle that would become the foundation of Iration’s signature sound.
Rather than fitting neatly into one musical category, Iration has developed a style that effortlessly blends reggae rhythms with rock, pop, soul and alternative influences. The result is music that feels equally at home on a beach, at a music festival or under the lights of a packed amphitheater. That versatility has helped the band become one of the most successful modern reggae-rock acts in the country.
Since releasing its debut album in 2007, Iration has grown from performing in small clubs to headlining major tours throughout North America. Along the way, the band has amassed more than one billion streams across digital platforms while earning multiple Billboard Reggae Albums chart successes. Their touring resume includes performances alongside artists such as Slightly Stoopid, Rebelution, Pepper, Dirty Heads and 311, while also headlining sold-out tours of their own.

Wednesday’s appearance at the California State Fair promises to bring that same energy to Sacramento, offering concertgoers a midweek escape filled with upbeat rhythms, feel-good melodies and the relaxed atmosphere that has become synonymous with Iration performances.
The concert also marks the beginning of the final stretch of the Toyota Concert Series, which continues to feature nationally recognized artists nearly every night through the Fair’s closing weekend.
Country music fans won’t have to wait long for another headline performance as Lee Brice takes the stage Thursday, July 23. Brice has become one of Nashville’s biggest stars with chart-topping hits including “Hard to Love,” “Rumor,” “One of Them Girls” and “I Drive Your Truck.” Known for his powerful vocals and emotional songwriting, Brice continues to be one of country music’s most successful touring artists.
Friday night shifts to hip-hop as Ja Rule brings his early-2000s catalog of crossover rap and R&B hits to the Sky River Casino Stage. With songs including “Always on Time,” “Livin’ It Up,” “Mesmerize” and numerous collaborations that dominated radio during the era, Ja Rule’s performance is expected to draw fans looking for a nostalgic night of chart-topping favorites.
Saturday, July 25, keeps the party going as KC & The Sunshine Band returns with one of the most recognizable catalogs in pop music history. Led by Harry Wayne “KC” Casey, the group continues to fill dance floors with classics including “That’s the Way (I Like It),” “Get Down Tonight,” “(Shake, Shake, Shake) Shake Your Booty,” “Boogie Shoes” and “Please Don’t Go.” More than five decades after launching the disco movement, the band remains a crowd favorite for audiences of all ages.
Regional Mexican music takes the spotlight Sunday, July 26, when Ezequiel Peña performs. Widely recognized as the “King of Banda and Mariachi,” Peña has built an international following through his powerful ranchera performances and traditional Mexican sound, making his appearance one of the Fair’s most anticipated Latin music events.
The final week of the Fair opens Monday, July 27, with Queen Nation, one of the world’s premier Queen tribute bands. The group recreates the legendary sound and stage presence of Freddie Mercury and Queen with faithful performances of classics including “Bohemian Rhapsody,” “We Will Rock You,” “Somebody to Love,” “Don’t Stop Me Now” and “We Are the Champions.”
Tuesday, July 28, features R&B icon Keith Sweat, whose smooth vocals helped define the New Jack Swing era. His performance is expected to feature enduring hits such as “Nobody,” “Twisted,” “I Want Her,” “Make It Last Forever” and “I’ll Give All My Love to You,” bringing decades of R&B classics to Sacramento.
Country music returns Wednesday, July 29, as Trace Adkins brings nearly 30 years of chart-topping hits to the Fair. The unmistakable voice behind songs including “Honky Tonk Badonkadonk,” “You’re Gonna Miss This” and “(This Ain’t) No Thinkin’ Thing” remains one of country music’s most recognizable performers.
Jam band enthusiasts will enjoy Thursday, July 30, when Dark Star Orchestra recreates the experience of classic Grateful Dead concerts. Known for performing authentic historical Grateful Dead setlists while capturing the improvisational spirit of the legendary band, Dark Star Orchestra has earned international acclaim among Deadheads.
The final weekend begins Friday, July 31, with Boyz II Men, one of the best-selling R&B groups in music history. The quartet’s signature harmonies have produced timeless hits including “End of the Road,” “I’ll Make Love to You,” “Motownphilly,” “On Bended Knee” and “One Sweet Day,” making for one of the most anticipated concerts of the Fair.
Legendary funk band WAR headlines Saturday, Aug. 1, bringing generations of hits including “Low Rider,” “Why Can’t We Be Friends?,” “Spill the Wine,” “The Cisco Kid” and “Summer” to the stage. Their fusion of funk, soul, jazz, Latin and rock has influenced musicians for more than 50 years and continues to resonate with audiences today.
The concert series concludes Sunday, Aug. 2, with Yacht Rock Revue, widely recognized as the nation’s premier yacht rock tribute band. Their polished recreations of soft rock favorites from the late 1970s and early 1980s celebrate artists including Kenny Loggins, Christopher Cross, Hall & Oates, Michael McDonald and Steely Dan, providing a fitting close to this year’s musical lineup.
Beyond the nightly concerts, the California State Fair continues offering visitors one of the state’s largest summer celebrations. Guests can spend the day exploring agricultural exhibits, livestock competitions, award-winning wine and craft beer showcases, carnival rides, games, shopping, educational displays and family-friendly attractions spread throughout the Cal Expo grounds. The Fair’s famous food lineup also returns with everything from classic corn dogs and funnel cakes to inventive culinary creations competing for this year’s coveted food awards.
Visitors can also enjoy nightly entertainment beyond the Toyota Concert Series, including strolling performers, cultural exhibits, community showcases and interactive experiences celebrating California’s agriculture, innovation and diverse communities. Whether attending for the concerts, food, exhibits or family activities, the Fair offers something for visitors of every age.
The 2026 California State Fair continues through Sunday, Aug. 2, at Cal Expo in Sacramento. Fair hours are 4 p.m. to 11 p.m. Monday through Thursday and 10 a.m. to 11 p.m. Friday through Sunday, with adjusted closing hours on the Fair’s final day.
Every Toyota Concert Series performance is included with paid California State Fair admission. Guests seeking free seating may line up beginning at 5 p.m. each concert day for one of approximately 700 first-come, first-served seats behind the reserved section. Reserved seating is also available for purchase, although Fair admission is still required for entry.
