The month of August continues at Placerville Speedway with one of the popular events each season, as Russell Motorsports Inc. presents a stacked program during Kings Meats Half-Priced Burger Night this Saturday, Aug. 15.
The evening of family entertainment and grassroots racing offers burgers and cheeseburgers at half price at the Speedway Café. Hirst Home Team Happy Hour will showcase live music and discounted Coors Light and Coors Banquet beer from 4 to 6 p.m.
As an added attraction, the first 100 Kings Meats Fresh Angus Beef Cheeseburgers will be free for fans. All four main event winners Saturday will also receive a Meat Box courtesy of Kings Meats, filled with steaks, sausages, chops and more.
Anyone who visits the Kings Meats store Wednesday, Thursday or Friday will also be entered into a raffle for a pair of free pit passes to the Aug. 22 High Limit Racing Gold Rush Classic. No purchase is necessary.
A four-division “Thunder in the Foothills” championship program, presented by Berco Building Materials, Hoosier Tires and Coors Light, will include the Thompson’s Family of Dealerships Winged 360 Sprint Cars, Kings Meats Ltd. Late Models, Red Hawk Resort + Casino Pure Stocks and BCRA Lightning Sprints.
With just two events remaining for the Thompson’s Family of Dealerships Winged 360 Sprint Cars, Justyn Cox continues to lead the way. The 2023 Sprint Car Challenge Tour champion is coming off another solid night that saw him lead laps and finish runner-up aboard the Josh Bates Racing No. 42x.
Yuba City’s Rod Oliver and Oakley’s Nick Baldwin sit atop the Kings Meats Ltd. Late Model and Red Hawk Resort + Casino Pure Stock standings, respectively. Both drivers won last week, with Oliver claiming his second victory of the year and Baldwin earning his eighth of the season.
Elk Grove’s Matt Land brings the BCRA Lightning Sprint point lead into Placerville on Saturday. Land holds a nine-point advantage over Livermore’s Greg Dennett as the series makes its penultimate stop of the season on the red clay.

Grandstand seating during Kings Meats Burger Night will be general admission Saturday, Aug. 15, apart from reserved seats allocated to season ticket holders that are marked.
Adult tickets are $18, while tickets for seniors 62 and older, military members and juniors ages 12-17 are $16. Tickets for children ages 6-11 are $8, and children 5 and younger are admitted free. Tickets can be purchased at the gate or online.
The pit gate opens at noon, with the front gate opening at 4 p.m. Cars hit the track at 5:15 p.m. with hot laps, ADCO Driveline Qualifying and racing to follow.
Hirst Home Team Happy Hour will be offered from 4 to 6 p.m. in the grandstands, featuring live music and discounted Coors Light and Coors Banquet beer at the Cold Zone.
Placerville Speedway is located at the El Dorado County Fairgrounds, 100 Placerville Drive in Placerville. From Highway 50, take the Forni Road/Placerville Drive exit and travel north on Placerville Drive to the fairgrounds. Additional information is available at placervillespeedway.com.
