GoFundMe launched to help Jazmyne Wright recover from life-changing spinal injuries following a 50-foot fall

For many in Folsom, Jazmyne Wright is the familiar smiling face who has greeted customers at Chick-fil-A Folsom over the years. To her children, she is simply mom. Today, the El Dorado Hills mother is facing the greatest challenge of her life after surviving a devastating 50-foot fall that left her with serious spinal injuries.

Now, the community she has long served is coming together to support her. A GoFundMe fundraiser has been launched to help Wright with recovery expenses not covered by insurance as she begins what is expected to be a lengthy rehabilitation. Friends, family, co-workers and community members have been sharing the fundraiser and offering encouragement as she focuses on healing and returning home to her children.

Wright survived a 50-foot fall from McCloud Falls in rural Siskiyou County while cliff jumping, an accident she described as one that “could have easily taken my life.” She sustained multiple compression fractures to her spine and was hospitalized in the intensive care unit while doctors worked to determine the full extent of her injuries.

In the days following the accident, Wright temporarily lost sensation in both of her legs. Since then, she has regained full sensation in her left leg and has begun regaining sensation in her right, describing each improvement as a reminder of how much she still has to be grateful for despite the difficult journey ahead.

“The road to recovery has been much more difficult than I ever could have imagined,” Wright shared.

As she prepares to leave the hospital, Wright’s challenges are only beginning. Because of her spinal injuries, she cannot safely sleep in a traditional bed and will require a hospital bed and specialized medical equipment at home to continue her recovery while following her doctors’ recommendations.

While insurance is expected to cover portions of her medical care, many of the expenses associated with her recovery—including specialized equipment and time away from work—remain out of pocket. Funds raised through the GoFundMe campaign will help cover those essential needs as she continues healing.

Many throughout the Folsom area know Wright through her years as a beloved team member at Chick-fil-A Folsom, where she has become a familiar and friendly presence for countless customers. Since news of the accident spread, co-workers have joined friends, family and community members in rallying around Wright, sharing her story and offering prayers, encouragement and financial support.

“The financial burden of recovering from this accident has been overwhelming,” Wright wrote. “Between medical expenses, recovery equipment, and time away from work, the costs continue to grow.”

Although asking for help has been difficult, Wright said she has come to realize accepting the support of others is part of the healing process.

“If you’re unable to donate, I completely understand,” she wrote. “Your prayers, encouragement, and sharing this fundraiser with others would mean just as much.”

Despite the uncertainty that lies ahead, Wright remains focused on what matters most.

“I truly believe God has a purpose for my life, and I am committed to doing everything I can to recover, get back home to my beautiful children and move forward one day at a time,” she shared.
