Sacramento-based New Wave band brings the sounds of the 1980s to free Thursday night concert
The sounds of the 1980s will take center stage in Historic Folsom this Thursday as The LVVS makes its Folsom debut, bringing an evening of New Wave, synth-pop and pop-rock favorites to the Zittel Family Amphitheater as part of the 2026 Twilight Concert Series.
Presented by Bernau Development Corporation in partnership with the Folsom Historic District Association, the free weekly concert series continues to draw large crowds to Historic Folsom, where live music, local restaurants, boutique shopping and the district’s unique atmosphere have combined to make Thursday nights one of the community’s most anticipated summer traditions.
For fans of 1980s music, The LVVS promises an evening built around the soundtrack of one of popular music’s most influential decades. The Sacramento-based band has become known throughout Northern California for energetic performances celebrating the artists who helped define the New Wave movement, blending synth-driven classics with alternative rock and pop favorites that continue to resonate with audiences today.
Rather than focusing solely on chart-topping hits, The LVVS digs deep into the era’s diverse catalog, performing songs from many of the artists who shaped the sound of the 1980s. Their setlists regularly include music from Duran Duran, New Order, Depeche Mode, The Cure, Echo & the Bunnymen, The Smiths, U2, INXS, Culture Club, Blondie, OMD, ABC, The Clash, The Go-Go’s, Thompson Twins, Gary Numan, Soft Cell, Love and Rockets, Elvis Costello and many more.
Concertgoers can expect to hear recognizable favorites such as “Rio,” “Girls on Film,” “Just Can’t Get Enough,” “True Faith,” “The Killing Moon,” “Just Like Heaven,” “Never Tear Us Apart,” “Tainted Love,” “Forever Young,” “Hold Me Now,” “Our Lips Are Sealed,” “Rock the Casbah” and “Love Will Tear Us Apart,” creating an evening that captures the energy and style of the decade while encouraging audiences to sing along from the first song to the last.
The band’s performances are built around more than nostalgia alone. By combining polished musicianship with an energetic stage presence, The LVVS recreates the vibrant sound that helped make New Wave and synth-pop a defining era in modern music. Their concerts appeal not only to those who grew up with the music but also to younger audiences discovering the genre through its lasting influence on today’s artists.
Although well known throughout the Sacramento region, Thursday’s performance marks The LVVS’ first appearance in Folsom, introducing the band to Twilight Concert Series audiences for the first time. Their growing reputation for lively performances at festivals, community events and venues throughout Northern California has made the group a natural fit for one of the region’s premier outdoor summer concert series.
The LVVS follows another successful week of the Twilight Concert Series, which welcomed AKAlive to Historic Folsom with its high-energy mix of classic rock, country, funk and contemporary favorites before another enthusiastic crowd at the Zittel Family Amphitheater.
Following The LVVS, the Twilight Concert Series continues with Dunsbar Road on Aug. 6, Wayside Band on Aug. 13, Daze on the Green on Aug. 20 and Adam Aldama & The Aces closing out the 2026 season on Aug. 27.
Beyond the music, the Twilight Concert Series continues to showcase Historic Folsom as one of the region’s favorite gathering places. Visitors are encouraged to arrive early to enjoy dinner at one of the district’s many locally owned restaurants, browse unique boutiques and specialty shops, and experience the vibrant atmosphere that has become synonymous with Thursday evenings during the summer concert season.
The 2026 Twilight Concert Series is made possible through the support of numerous local sponsors and community partners. Bernau Development Corporation serves as the presenting sponsor for this year’s series, while Folsom Times returns as the series platinum sponsor. Thursday’s free concert takes place from 7:30 to 9:30 p.m. at the Zittel Family Amphitheater in Historic Folsom. Guests are encouraged to bring low-back lawn chairs or blankets and arrive early as attendance has remained strong throughout the 2026 season.
