FOLSOM — A wide-ranging weekend of live music is set to take over Historic Folsom as Powerhouse Pub rolls out a high-energy lineup featuring throwback hits, genre-blending dance bands and a blues-rooted Sunday finale.
The weekend begins Friday, April 17 with the TGIF Early Show featuringThe Mad Hattersat 6:30 p.m., bringing a fresh take on the cover band experience. Known for their high-energy performances, the Northern California group specializes in delivering songs audiences may not expect—but instantly recognize once they hear them.
Their setlist blends pop, rock, funk and Motown, creating a dance-friendly atmosphere built around crowd favorites rather than overplayed hits. The result is a lively, engaging performance that keeps the floor moving while surprising audiences with songs they forgot they loved.
Friday night then shifts into full throwback mode asBack to the 80’sfeaturing Adam Aldama & The Aces takes over at 10 p.m. The band delivers a nonstop celebration of one of music’s most iconic decades, blending 80s old school, funk, R&B and pop into a high-energy show designed for dancing.
Audiences can expect hits from Whitney Houston, Earth, Wind & Fire, Michael Jackson, Madonna, George Michael, Bobby Brown, Billy Idol, Midnight Star and Prince, creating a packed dance floor from start to finish. With multiple DJ rooms, a large LED dance floor and multiple bar areas, the late-night show transforms the venue into a full-scale nightlife experience.
Saturday, April 18 begins with a unique afternoon experience asAnother Bricktakes the stage at 3 p.m. for the Saturday Afternoon Dance Party. The band delivers a tribute to Pink Floyd, combining iconic songs with a visual component that includes a laser light show designed to recreate the psychedelic atmosphere associated with the legendary group. Performing music from albums such as The Wall, Wish You Were Here, Animals and Dark Side of the Moon, the show offers a journey through one of rock’s most influential catalogs.
Saturday night keeps the energy high withPower Playtaking the stage at 10 p.m., bringing a versatile, genre-crossing performance built around nonstop dance hits. Known for their ability to jump seamlessly between styles, the band blends everything from Lady Gaga to Johnny Cash to Eminem, mixing Top 40, classic rock, country and modern hits into one cohesive show. With strong vocalists, guitar-driven arrangements and a powerful rhythm section, Power Play creates a high-energy environment where audiences can expect constant movement and variety throughout the night.
The weekend wraps up Sunday, April 19 with the Powerhouse of Blues series featuringRed’s Blues ft. Steve Freundat 3 p.m., bringing a deep-rooted blend of Americana, blues, R&B and swing to the stage. Founded in 2012, the Sacramento Blues Hall of Fame band has built a reputation for combining original music with classic influences, creating performances that balance storytelling with rhythm-driven grooves.
Led by Beth Reid-Grigsby and Richard “RW” Grigsby, the band draws on decades of musical experience and influences that range from traditional blues and jazz to folk and early rock and roll. Beth’s smooth, behind-the-beat vocal style reflects inspirations such as Peggy Lee and Bobbie Gentry, while RW’s bass playing carries the influence of his years performing with respected blues artists including Mark Hummel and Mike Morgan & The Crawl.
Their latest album, Broke Down in the Fast Lane, captures that blend of personal storytelling and blues tradition, with songs inspired by life on the road and real-world experiences.
