A North Highlands man was taken into custody following his arrest in connection with an alleged assault involving a female passenger at a light rail station in Folsom’s Historic District.
According to the Folsom Police Department and Sacramento County Jail records, 41-year-old Ryan T. Murray was arrested Sunday after officers responded to an incident involving a woman at a Sacramento Regional Transit station in the Historic District area. Authorities said Murray was ultimately taken into custody at a nearby station.
Murray has been charged with making criminal threats, assault by means of force likely to produce great bodily injury, and resisting or obstructing a peace officer. Details regarding the alleged resistance to officers have not been released.
Folsom Police Detective Deidre McAuliff confirmed to media that the incident involved a female passenger. Additional details about the circumstances leading up to the alleged assault have not been disclosed, and it remains unclear the severity of the injuries the victim sustained.
Court records show Murray was arraigned Wednesday in Sacramento Superior Court. Another court date has been scheduled for July 29.
As of Thursday morning, Murray remained housed at the Sacramento County Main Jail with bail set at $50,000.
In response to the incidents Sacramento Regional Transit spokesperson Jessica Gonzalez said passenger safety and security remain a top priority for the agency. Gonzalez noted that RT’s crime rate currently stands at approximately 2.7 major incidents per one million rides in a statement.
The case remains under investigation.
