Folsom American 11U team recognized at City Hall after run through district, section and Northern California championship tournaments
The Folsom American Little League 11U All-Stars were recognized Tuesday night at Folsom City Hall following a season that ended with the team winning the Northern California State Championship.
Players, coaches and families attended the Folsom City Council meeting, where Mayor Justin Raithel presented a Resolution of Commendation honoring the team as the 2026 state champions.
Raithel read the commendation before the council, recognizing the team’s success throughout the season as well as the players, coaches and volunteers who contributed to the championship run.
The resolution described the Folsom American players and coaches as having “demonstrated talent, sportsmanship, perseverance, and a commitment to hard work throughout the season.”
Folsom American went undefeated through the District 54 and Section 4 tournaments before advancing to the Northern California State Championship. Overall, the team won 13 of 14 games beginning June 28.
The District 54 championship was the team’s second consecutive district title after winning at the 9-10-year-old level last year. Folsom American followed that championship by advancing through the Section 4 tournament without a loss to qualify for the Northern California tournament.
The state tournament was held locally, with Folsom National Little League serving as host at Mann Park. That allowed Folsom American to compete for the championship on its home fields while the other participating teams traveled to Folsom.
Folsom American won the state championship July 31 with a 10-8 victory over Santa Clara Westside. The team defeated Santa Clara Westside twice during the tournament, including a 4-3 victory the previous day.
The championship completed a postseason that established Folsom American as the top team in its age division in Northern California, an achievement Raithel highlighted while reading the resolution Tuesday.
“By capturing the state championship, the Folsom American 11U All-Stars earned the official distinction of being the top team in the 9-11U age bracket across the entire Northern California region,” Raithel read.
The city’s recognition also addressed the team’s performance and conduct throughout the season.
Raithel recognized the coaching staff for providing “outstanding leadership, mentorship, and dedication” in guiding the team through its tournament run.
“The players competed with fine sportsmanship, teamwork, loyalty, and camaraderie, demonstrating true unity on and off the field,” Raithel read.
The resolution also recognized the parents and volunteers who supported the team throughout the season, specifically noting their work behind the scenes to assist with field operations and scorekeeping.
Raithel concluded the presentation by formally extending the council’s recognition to the team.
“Now, therefore, be it resolved on behalf of the City Council that high commendation and sincere congratulations are hereby extended to the Folsom American All-Stars team for their incredible championship season,” Raithel said. “Congratulations, guys.”
During the presentation, members of the team presented Raithel with a Folsom American hat signed by the players along with a commemorative baseball.
Raithel also noted that Folsom’s role as host of the state tournament gave the community an opportunity to watch its local team secure the championship at home.
“We even got to host the All-Star tournament here at Folsom,” Raithel said. “So we had the home team for the All-Stars win right here at home. So it’s pretty exciting.”
The Northern California championship capped a postseason that began with District 54 competition and continued through the Section 4 tournament before the team advanced to the state level.
The formal commendation was dated Aug. 11 and signed by Raithel. It extended the City Council’s “high commendation and sincere congratulations” to the Folsom American 11U All-Stars for their championship season.
Tuesday’s presentation provided formal city recognition for the players, coaches and volunteers following a season in which Folsom American captured District 54 and Section 4 titles before completing its run with the Northern California State Championship.
