A proposed maintenance assessment for the Natoma Station Landscaping and Lighting District in the City of Folsom has been approved by property owners following the conclusion of a Proposition 218 ballot process, clearing the way for updated funding to support neighborhood services.
Ballots were tabulated April 29 at Folsom City Hall during a public meeting, where the measure received 71.84 percent approval, surpassing the threshold required for passage.
The approved assessment is intended to address ongoing funding challenges within the district, where rising maintenance costs have outpaced existing revenue in recent years. The funding will support continued upkeep of landscaping, street lighting, irrigation systems, small neighborhood parks and other shared community assets throughout Natoma Station.
City officials said the updated assessment will help stabilize service levels and ensure the long-term maintenance of infrastructure and amenities relied upon by residents.
With the ballot measure now approved, the Folsom City Council is scheduled to take final action at its upcoming meeting on May 12 at 6:30 p.m. in the Council Chambers at City Hall. At that meeting, councilmembers are expected to consider adopting the final engineer’s report and formally confirming the new assessment.
If approved, the updated assessment will be implemented beginning in the 2026–27 fiscal year. City staff will also continue outreach efforts with Natoma Station residents regarding service levels, maintenance priorities and ongoing district needs.
The City of Folsom indicated it will continue working with residents in the district to support neighborhood services and maintain community amenities moving forward.
