Firefighters from the  Sacramento Metropolitan Fire and the Folsom Fire Department responded to an Orangevale home that caught fire late Monday night where one person was reportedly killed

Fire personnel were first dispatched to the incident just before 11:30 p.m. Monday night after a 911 call reported the structure fire at a residential home located on the 8700 block of Greenback Lane. 

The first units on scene arrived to report a working structure fire. As the first engine on scene set up an initial attack on the place, additional units from Metro Fire and the City of Folsom’s Engine 32  arrived on scene.

One person reportedly died in the home. At this time investigators are not releasing any information surrounding the individual as the investigation continues.  

With the full response, firefighters were able to make a swift knockdown of the fire and isolate the active flames to a bedroom in the home and the attic space above it.  The quick control of the fire prevented any potential threat to vegetation or any additional structures in the area.

A total of 14 units responded to the scene from the two departments, including two battalion chiefs and Sacramento Metro Fire’s Truck 23.  The incident caused lane closures  along a section of Greenback Lane due to the large presence of fire equipment and law enforcement on scene.

Firefighters remained on the call for just over three-hours as the incident for fire personnel just after 2:30 a.m. Law enforcement remained on scene thereafter. The cause of the fire is presently under investigation.
