Motorists traveling through Folsom’s Historic District on Sunday should plan for a daylong closure of Rainbow Bridge as the city prepares for a special event celebrating two major community milestones.

Rainbow Bridge will be closed to vehicle traffic from 8 a.m. to midnight Sunday, Sept. 13, to accommodate Dinner on the Bridge, an event organized and produced by Choose Folsom.

The event will celebrate the 80th anniversaries of both the Folsom Chamber of Commerce and the City of Folsom.

Despite the Rainbow Bridge closure, the Historic District will remain open and accessible throughout the day. Motorists needing to cross the American River are encouraged to use Folsom Boulevard as an alternate route.

Detours will be clearly marked, and electronic message signs will be in place to notify motorists of the closure in advance.

The Historic Truss Bridge will remain open to pedestrians and bicyclists throughout the closure.

The evening will conclude with a 10-minute aerial drone show featuring 250 drones at approximately 8:30 p.m. The show is expected to be visible from portions of the Historic District, including the Historic Truss Bridge and the Lake Natoma Crossing bridge walking path.
