RANCHO CORDOVA – While many communities celebrate Independence Day with a single evening of festivities, Rancho Cordova is once again expanding the celebration into a two-day community tradition, offering family-friendly entertainment, live music, carnival rides, a circus, patriotic events and what organizers proudly call the best fireworks show in Northern California.
The annual Rancho Cordova Fourth of July Celebration returns July 3 and 4 at Hagan Community Park, where festivities will run from 4 p.m. until 11 p.m. each evening.
Admission is $5 per person in advance or $10 at the gate. Parking is available for $10 per vehicle, cash only. Organizers encourage attendees to arrive early, as parking lots close at 9 p.m. and entry gates close at 9:45 p.m.
The celebration once again features a full carnival with rides, games and attractions for all ages. Unlimited ride wristbands are available for $30 through July 2 when purchased online or at KP International Market, or for $40 inside the event.
Returning this year is “It’s Showtime Circus,” bringing aerial acrobatics, daring stunts, juggling performances and other family entertainment to Hagan Park. The circus will perform twice nightly at 6 p.m. and 7 p.m., with admission included as part of the event ticket.
Each evening concludes with live entertainment followed by Rancho Cordova’s signature fireworks display. Thunder Cover takes the stage July 3, while popular ’80s tribute band The Spazmatics will perform on Independence Day, July 4. Both concerts begin at 8 p.m. before the nightly fireworks spectacular lights up the sky.
Those looking for an upgraded experience can purchase VIP admission, which includes covered seating with tables and chairs, two complimentary beverage tickets, upgraded private restrooms and premium viewing of both the concerts and fireworks. Each VIP ticket also includes admission for up to two children ages 12 and younger when accompanied by the ticket holder.
In recognition of America’s 250th anniversary, this year’s celebration adds two new patriotic attractions. A student art exhibit will showcase American-themed artwork created by Rancho Cordova students ages 4 through 18, featuring patriotic symbols, flags and other Americana-inspired creations.
Visitors can also enjoy a series of festive food-eating contests between circus performances, where contestants will compete in watermelon, pie and hot dog eating challenges.
The celebration continues Saturday morning with two longtime community traditions.
The All-America Mile Run begins at 9 a.m., welcoming families, children, active seniors and competitive runners alike. Participants are encouraged to wear patriotic attire before spending the rest of the day enjoying the parade, entertainment and fireworks. The first 250 runners may register free, with a $5 registration fee applying afterward.
Immediately following the run, Rancho Cordova’s annual Fourth of July Parade steps off at 10 a.m. along Coloma Road. Spectators are encouraged to arrive early with chairs and sunscreen to secure viewing spots. Coloma Road will close to traffic along the parade route beginning at 8 a.m. Admission to the parade is free.
Traffic Restrictions Planned
To improve safety and reduce neighborhood congestion during the celebration, Rancho Cordova will implement traffic restrictions on both July 3 and July 4.
Vehicle access into neighborhoods west of Chase Drive and north of Newton Way will be limited. Only residents and their guests will be permitted beyond the checkpoint located at Dawes Street and Newton Way.
