Isaiah Munoz, 25, of Rancho Cordova was arrested Aug. 27 by Special Operations detectives, according to authorities. Investigators allege Munoz encouraged and helped facilitate a woman’s involvement in sex work while financially benefiting from it.

The investigation began in June when detectives conducting a human trafficking operation in Placer County contacted and arrested a woman who authorities said was engaged in sex work.

As detectives continued investigating the circumstances surrounding the case, they developed information indicating Munoz was encouraging and assisting the woman in engaging in sex work and receiving financial benefits from her activity, according to authorities.

The investigation continued the following month when Special Operations detectives assisted the Roseville Police Department’s CSU detectives with another human trafficking operation. During that operation, investigators contacted the same woman again.

Authorities said their follow-up investigation indicated Munoz continued to encourage and facilitate the woman’s involvement in sex work.

Investigators subsequently located Munoz in Elk Grove on Aug. 27. He was arrested with assistance from the California Highway Patrol, Sacramento County Sheriff’s Office and Roseville Police Department.

Under California law, pimping generally involves knowingly receiving financial support from the proceeds of another person’s prostitution, while pandering includes conduct intended to persuade, encourage or arrange for another person to engage in prostitution.
