Rock and country share the spotlight at Jan’s Lounge this weekend as the longtime Orangevale gathering spot welcomes Diva Rox on Friday night before BlackWater brings its country sound to the stage Saturday.
Diva Rox gets the weekend started Friday from 8 to 11 p.m., bringing a high-energy performance built around familiar rock favorites spanning multiple eras. Known for powerhouse vocals and an energetic stage presence, the band puts an emphasis on recognizable songs, dancing and the kind of sing-along favorites that have made it a familiar name on the regional live music circuit.
Rather than staying locked into a single decade, Diva Rox reaches across generations of rock, giving the band plenty of room to change gears throughout the evening. The result is a Friday night set geared toward audiences looking to get out of their seats and onto the dance floor as Jan’s gets its October live music schedule underway.
Saturday brings a change in musical direction when BlackWater takes the stage from 8 to 11 p.m. The Sacramento-area band has been performing since 2012 and has developed a following with a country-focused repertoire that reaches from established favorites to more contemporary sounds.
BlackWater’s songbook draws from several generations of country music, including material associated with Jason Aldean, Brantley Gilbert, Dwight Yoakam, Dustin Lynch, Brooks & Dunn and Kenny Chesney. That range allows the band to move between the honky-tonk and Bakersfield-influenced sounds of earlier country and the bigger, more modern approach heard in contemporary country.

The group has remained active on the Northern California live music circuit while evolving its lineup over the years. Its experienced musicians bring strong vocals and a full-band approach to songs country fans will recognize, making Saturday’s show a distinctly different offering from the rock-driven performance that opens the weekend Friday.
Together, Diva Rox and BlackWater give Jan’s two different ways to spend a fall weekend night without having to travel far from Orangevale. Friday is geared toward fans looking for a lively night of rock and dancing, while Saturday turns the stage over to familiar country songs and a band that has spent years performing them for audiences around the region.
Jan’s Lounge is located at 9222 Greenback Lane in the heart of downtown Orangevale on Greenback between Chestnut and Walnut. The longtime neighborhood bar regularly hosts live bands, karaoke and other entertainment while offering a full-service bar, homemade pizzas and other food offerings, pool tables and televisions.
The venue has become a regular stop for Sacramento-area musicians and a gathering place for those looking for live entertainment in a casual neighborhood setting. Its weekend schedule frequently pairs bands with different styles, giving audiences a changing mix of music from one night to the next.
Diva Rox performs Friday from 8 to 11 p.m., followed by BlackWater Saturday from 8 to 11 p.m. For the latest schedule and additional event information, visit Jan’s Lounge at jans-lounge.com/events.
