The annual festival, widely regarded as the largest rock and metal music event on the West Coast, will take place Oct. 1 through Oct. 4, transforming the riverside park into a massive outdoor concert venue featuring dozens of bands across multiple stages.

Produced by Danny Wimmer Presents, Aftershock has grown dramatically since launching in Sacramento in 2012. The event now draws tens of thousands of fans from across the country and routinely features more than 100 bands over four days of performances.

Discovery Park, located at 1000 Garden Highway near the confluence of the Sacramento and American rivers, once again serves as the festival’s home base. The sprawling venue allows organizers to construct multiple stages, vendor villages, art installations and food areas throughout the park’s riverfront setting.

Festival gates typically open late morning each day, with music running throughout the afternoon and evening as fans move between stages to catch their favorite acts.

In addition to the music, Aftershock has evolved into a destination experience featuring food vendors, craft beverages, interactive exhibits and merchandise areas. Shuttle services are also provided from Cal Expo to help move large crowds to and from the venue.

The event’s continued growth has had a notable economic impact on the region as well. Local hotels, restaurants and businesses see a major boost during the festival weekend as thousands of visitors travel to Sacramento for the event.
