FOLSOM — SAFE Credit Union is awarding $25,000 in scholarships to be split among 10 recipients in 2026, continuing its long-standing commitment to supporting education and workforce development across Northern California.

The scholarship program will provide $2,500 awards to eligible applicants attending schools in Alameda, Amador, Butte, Contra Costa, El Dorado, Nevada, Placer, Sacramento, San Joaquin, Solano, Sutter, Yolo and Yuba counties. The opportunity is open to graduating high school seniors as well as community college students with 60 or fewer completed credits.

“We are so excited to offer our scholarships this year to more students and to those pursuing diverse paths in education,” said SAFE Credit Union Community Impact Manager Lauren LeBov, noting the credit union first began awarding scholarships nearly 25 years ago.

“SAFE recognizes that pursuing one’s dreams often presents a unique journey for everyone,” LeBov added. “SAFE’s scholarship program is special in that we provide opportunities for varying educational pursuits, whether that means attending school at a community college or a university or learning a specialized skill from a trade school.”

The application deadline is Thursday, April 30. Interested applicants can apply online athttps://www.safecu.org/scholarships.

To qualify, applicants — or a parent or guardian — must be a member of SAFE Credit Union. Awards are based on merit, financial need and grade point average, with additional consideration given to each student’s personal statement and a letter of recommendation.

Applicants are also required to submit an introductory video and provide proof of acceptance into a community college, trade school or university for the upcoming academic year.

Since launching the program, SAFE Credit Union has awarded more than $225,000 in scholarships to students across the 13 counties it serves.

Beyond scholarships, the credit union continues to support local communities through nonprofit grants, volunteer efforts, direct giving and sponsorships, along with offering no-cost financial education programs for individuals of all ages, from school-age children to retirees.
