Folsom firefighters contained Parkstone mobile home fire within eight minutes
FOLSOM — Folsom firefighters contained a Saturday morning mobile home fire within eight minutes after flames spread from the backyard into the residence and threatened a neighboring home, according to the Folsom Fire Department.
The Sacramento Regional Fire Emergency Communication Center dispatched the Folsom Fire Department to the reported structure fire on the 600 block of Parkstone Way at 8:35 a.m.
According the Folsom Fire Deparment, Engine 36 was the first unit to arrive and found a double-wide mobile home with heavy fire involvement. According to the fire department, the fire appeared to have started in the backyard before quickly spreading into the living room and adjacent bedrooms. Flames and heat from the fire also immediately threatened a neighboring residence.
Engine 39, which was recently returned to service by the City of Folsom after being browned out for 10 months, arrived second. Its crew assisted with establishing a water supply, knocking down exterior flames and protecting the neighboring residence while also assuming command of the incident.

Firefighters brought the fire under control within eight minutes of their arrival and were able to limit the damage to approximately 40 percent of the home’s living space, according to the department.
Crews also conducted a primary search of the residence and confirmed no occupants were inside. No firefighter injuries were reported.
Metro Fire of Sacramento and the Folsom Police Department assisted Folsom Fire crews during the response.
“The first two arriving engine companies initiated an aggressive fire attack that protected neighboring homes and prevented a complete loss of the primary structure,” Folsom Fire Public Information Officer W. Nick Lawlor said. “Engine 39 was reinstated just a few weeks ago and we are already seeing the benefits. That crew provided vital water supply connections, deployed a line between the structures, and handled command functions. We also really appreciate Metro Fire and Folsom PD for providing assistance.”
After the fire was brought under control, firefighters remained at the property to extinguish remaining hot spots and conduct overhaul and recovery operations.
Preliminary evidence indicated an exterior electrical hazard may have caused the fire, according to the department. Arson investigators continued to investigate the incident to determine the official cause.
The Saturday morning response also marked one of the first significant structure fire responses involving Engine 39 since the unit was returned to service earlier this month. The engine had been browned out for approximately 10 months before the City of Folsom reinstated it as part of recent fire department staffing changes.
